This is almost a no frills, get back to nature, live on a desert island by the edge of the jungle, in a bungalow hand built from driftwood, swing in a hammock, swim with the turtles, Robinson Crusoe experience.
If you are expecting and ready for that experience, it can be fantastic.
On the other hand, if you are not prepared or looking for that experience, it can be a disaster.
The frills include a mosquito net for your bed, a bed which is quite comfortable, solar powered internet and lighting, lunch and dinner sent over by boat from the nearest village.
This is a case where you should read every review closely before you decide whether this experience is for you. Because for all the positives of an escape back to nature, there are just as many negatives to living on a remote beach in a hand built bungalow on the edge of the jungle.

Warm and welcoming- like an old fashioned B and B within a lovely family home with great ‘locals only’ knowledge. Ocean views stunning! Fantastic value for the price and safe for the single traveler. They even have air conditioning and hot water shower!
It is all about location, location, location. The view is exceptional. Room was clean, quiet, and very comfortable. Nice bed. Robert was a great host and super helpful. The homestay is still relatively new, but he's been in the area for years and knows it very well. Took a one day tour with him and a few other guests. It was fantastic. Things, culture, people, and places I never would have found otherwise. Wish I could have stayed longer.

We had seen all the positive reviews and were optimistic. We arrived at 6 am and they were kind enough to give us the room at this time. This is when the good service ended
It is nice and quiet, and Rivaldi is a great host. He made sure we had everything we need. We stayed in the rooms, which are spacious and charming. personnally I really enjoyed being able to do some yoga in the morning on one of the plateaus outside. Also, the sunset is amazing from here.
The staff also put in effort to prevent the food to be too spicy for my mom, which was much appreciated. We had a great stay here.
This is a real home stay, probably the best in West Sumatra. The family members are welcoming, friendly, and helpful. We could only stay three nights and wished we could stay longer. The rooms are clean, basic, and comfortable.
quiet little homestay just outside padang with amazing sunset views. rooms are simple but clean. Robert is a great host, providing information and pick up service from/to airport/ferry. they also rent out a scooter to explore the area.
