After you have done 50/100+ reviews for budget accommodation, it becomes a PITA, and you just enter a score, hit finish, and move on.
Occasionally, though, you find a place so good you just have to say something.
After weeks of being in places where there was either traffic noise, calls to prayer, roosters crowing, frogs croaking, dogs barking, night insects chirping, etc, Zizi Homey Room 202 was GLORIOUSLY QUIET.
Besides the quietness, the accommadation seems brand new. The room was sparkling clean and smelt amazing (automatic air freshener), quality bed linen (loved the bolster), AC, hot water (not always a given in Sumatra) and multi plug/USB wall sockets to mention just a few of many.
Also, good communication with host Zizi about check-in/out and restaurants/shops/activities in the area.
All in all, a great place to stay at a very reasonable price.
Ohhh. Forgot to mention, there is a kitchen on the ground floor which I did not use but assume guests could if they were staying long term??

It's just great to arrive here after a long flight. A very, very helpful staff will help you with all your questions. After leaving my card in the ATM, they took me to the city, waited for over an hour with me, then took me to another bank. I took up the entire morning of two people and their car due to my stupidity and just a tip was sufficient. It just feels so good to be helped like that. You just don't get that where I'm from.
A clean and calm place to escape the busyness of Medan and I can recommend Bua to be your starting and exit point to beautiful Sumatra.

The hotel was very nice! With retro vibe and the staff are very friendly and helpful. The lobby was pretty and they provide food to order if you are hungry. The indomie bangla was so good. And they help to keep our baggage for a while when we out to buy sourvernier too. Bang retno even help to fix our bike side mirror. Really recommend this place.

The restroom was filthy and irritating, and the toilet bowl was filthy. Restroom floor tiles, wall tiles, and toilet bowls are coated with yellowish and black fungal stains. The room was crawling with insects, and the heating was broken. The heater has been ruined, and no one knows why, according to the personnel. The floor was coated with dust and hair. It was my fifth visit to Medan, and it was a disaster.
I would not recommend staying at RedDoorz to anyone. During my last stay at RedDoorx Plus near RS USU Medan 2, I experienced the same behavior. I am convinced that these are management issues. The building appears good from the outside, but the room is a disaster. Whoever wishes to stay in RedDoorz is up to individual decisions. My answer will be NO.
We can classify it as cheap accommodation, but at least cleanliness should be the first priority. We didn't look for a 4 or 5-star room. The most important thing is cleanliness for a peaceful stay.

We really loved the owners they were so kind location is a bit out of medan but we didn't want to be near city center so was fine. Very nice house with beautiful garden, breakfast and coffee was great. Got to try lots of fruit from the garden and really enjoyed spending time with the hosts. They picked us up from airport and organized a shuttle bus to bukit lawang. Stay here if you are spending a night or two in medan on your way to other destinations.
Both the rooms that I booked were facing the pool. During the daytime especially during weekends it was extremely noisy with the children screaming and shouting in the swimming pool. Breakfast was only so so. Guess the food served are mostly to cater for the locals.
Absolute bargain. Just what I wanted not in a touristy area and amazing to mix with the locals and eat traditional food. For the price I paid the room was very good
