The place is a little bit outside the town and for me this is a good thing because it is very quiet and peaceful (they have a restaurant and provide water and free refill).

There was nothing we didn’t like. Comfortable beds, beautifully decorated room, amazing tropical garden, delicious food in the restaurant, the well organised and executed overnight tour into the jungle (yes, we were lucky to see orangutans in the wild) But it is the people working at the Orangutan discovery villa that made our stay unforgettable - highly hospitable, accommodating, genuine in every way. If we are ever to go back to Bukit Lawang it will be the this place.

My partner and I stayed 1 week at the Sumatra Thomas Leaf monkey guesthouse and it is by far the highlight from all of our travels. All of the staff are so friendly and inviting and make you feel like family. They all go above and beyond to make your stay unforgettable. The accomodation is located just a short walk from town making everything easily accessible.
We booked our trek with them also. We did the 2 nights and 3 day trek and were led by knowledgeable guides who customised the trek to our needs. We seen many orangutans, various monkeys, hornbills and other stunning wildlife. We are vegetarian and all the meals were delicious.
Best of all the guides are passionate about the health and protection of the jungle and take all ethical measures seriously.
We also booked a day trip through them to see the one of the largest flowers in the world. It was an experience that we will not forgot.
It was an incredible experience!!! Highly recommend to anyone looking to visit Bukit Lawang.

Location, location, location! This is the best place to experience the true bukit lawang - almost tourist free. I stayed here with my baby for more than a week and we’ve felt so like home here.
The river is absolutely stunning with deep pools, shallow pools and a sandbank!! You are also so close to the national park, and the stream of water directly from the mountain (just a 5min walk away).
Every mornings and evenings we are greeted with unique jungle music and sounds of orang utans (now and then). We even spotted a big male orang utan right at the back of our room once.
Food and fruit juices were absolutely delicious and people here are very friendly. They played with my daughter very much like family and it made our stay a very comfortable one.
If you’re coming with family or babies, you can request for the upper big room with shelves and is more spacious. The view from the balcony is absolutely stunning.

I loved my stay here. The location is incredible - literally within the jungle. The staff are friendly and helpful, and took me out on a night jungle trek. I have never stayed anywhere like this, and I would recommend Back to Nature to anyone who wants to immerse themselves in the jungle near Bukit Lawang. Truly a one of a kind accommodation.

This accommodation exceeds my wildest expectations completely. It offers a breathtaking view over the rice-fields, which truly is amazing. Every morning, I took the time to meditate in the attic of the meeting place. The cottage itself is truly beautiful and has a small bridge over a pond filled with stunning fish.
It has almost a Japanese atmosphere. Gorgeous!
In addition, the staff is always ready with a big smile and they are available all day to help.
In the morning, a wonderful breakfast is prepared for me with great care, everything taken care of doen to the smallest detail.
Moreover, I can work well here thanks to excellent WiFi connection. I also slept wonderfully here; the bed has a comfortable mattress and there is a great fan available.
Within walking distance, you will find various shops along an excellent road, so everything is easily accessible. If I needed something, they quickly arrange it by scooter or they bring and pick me up without hesitation. I am absolutely 100% planning to come back here and would recommend this place to anyone.

So good 👍 best place we have stayed, Murad and his team could not do enough for us, the property is stunning and grounds ar very impressive and well cared for. Breakfast and dinner with Murad was so good 👍 location outside the village but easy with Murads help to get about, Gibbon trip was something else and I would also recommend the bat cave on a separate morning

We had an awesome stay at Sama Sama Homestay. The owners are so welcoming, kind and friendly, so we directly felt comfortable. The brewed us delicious coffee each day and were always up for some nice and interesting smalltalk. The rooms are very comfortable and clean and we especially liked the balcony area to take some coffee and relax. We recommend a stay here!!
Arif is a very friendly host. Great room, directly in nature. Keep in mind that the homestay is quite far away, especially when you have heavy luggage. But they offer a porter service.
Alek is the most helpful homestay host we have had. He managed to sort out our 3D2N trek the night before we wanted to go and he lent us his bike to travel to an ATM. The location is ideal and lots of nice places to eat right outside. Well worth the price!!

Jhonny is a great host who checks in with you every chance he gets. Together with our guide, he and the staff helped us throw a surprise party for our moms birthday, which was so much fun. The cabins are cute and the beds are comfortable, with musquito nets.They can also help you with booking jungle trekkings. We did a half day trek and were lucky to have Eddy as a guide. Eddy is very friendly, really looked out for our safety in the jungle, but mostly, he just really made our trekking feel like a jungle party.
I hope to visit again someday.

Great homestay in Bukit Lawang, very clean, very cosy huge bed and AC! The owner arranged a Jungle tour for us and our guide Jonny did an awesome job! We saw a lot of orang Utans and a lot of other animals, he knew a lot about the animals and the jungle which was great!
