Deborah was a wonderful host. She was welcoming, friendly and nothing was too much trouble.
As described the property is quirky. The decor may not be to everyone’s taste but people need to remember this is Deborah and Mr Hendricks home. They open their spare rooms up to guests. Deborah is very clear at booking that we were sharing the home with them but could use all her facilities.
The two bedrooms are close to each other, but this wasn’t a problem for us as we went with friends so took over the whole top floor.
Deborah made room in her fridge for our breakfast things. She wasn’t in that morning but ensured pans and plates etc were on the side waiting for us.
Deborah gave us details for the WiFi, directions to the bus stop and local taxi numbers.
We were made to feel very welcome in her home.

Great location for our wedding venue at the Fleece Inn.
Beautiful guest house with a lot of character.
Great welcome by owners.
We did have a problem. When we were getting ready to leave for the wedding, my son discovered he had left his suit trousers at home, so as you can imagine the panic. We turned to Richard, the owner, who offered to run my son to tescos, which was the nearest place where my son could try and get some trousers. (15-minute drive there and back) Thankfully, my son came back with a pair of trousers, and we made it to the venue with a few minutes to spare.
Richard went above and beyond, and we were grateful for what he did.
Full English breakfast was spot on too. Plenty to choose from.

The bedroom and bathroom were both a good size and nicely decorated and furnished. The heating in the bedroom could be easily regulated. Although the staff are only on site for a short while, each encounter with them was friendly. Meals bought at the next door Dog and Gun were good.
Travellers on a budget looking to experience a place like a local will enjoy homestays. This simple accommodation is in a private home, where the host also lives. All facilities are shared and in most cases breakfast is included.
Clearly a well liked pub by the locals, staff were pleasant and the landlord couldn’t have been any more friendly and welcoming. Room was spotless and spacious, most powerful shower I’ve had too. Food was spot on, simple style menu with a few bits of flare and served perfectly. Need to discover more things to do in the area so we can visit and stay again.
The pub is popular - locals enjoying a drink with friends and family and with visitors like us too. The publican and staff are very friendly and the food is standard pub fare - good selection of options and reasonably priced. The room we had was at the back of the pub and it was lovely to see the cows wandering past on their way to being milked. Shower in bath, water pressure excellent. Room clean no frills - just what we require.

Being located within the classic traditional pub the entire stay was brilliant, easy to sort evening meals and once in our room we couldn’t hear the bar below. The locals were so welcoming and Richard and team were fabulous
A cosy and comfortable place staff were very attentive. The locals were friendly and pleasant to talk to plus they serve a nice pint although I never had a meal in the pub the food looked good
