Carinya, hotel in Talgarth

Set 46 km from Elan Valley, Carinya offers accommodation with a patio, as well as a garden and a shared lounge. It is situated 15 km from Brecon Cathedral and provides a concierge service.

Our stay with Janet and David felt like being welcomed by family. They greeted us warmly with tea and welsh cakes, engaging in easy conversation about our travels and life in general. Their home was immaculate, in a quiet location in a small but authentic village with a vibrant pub serving excellent food. We enjoyed the lovely river walks. It has easy access to other small towns in the Wye Valley and Brecon Beacons. Nothing was too much trouble. They even offered to do our washing and helped with a car issue. The full Welsh breakfast was delicious also. Carinya is a perfect place to stay!

Black Mountain Lodge, hotel in Glasbury

This lovely, old stone building is at the foothills of the Black Mountains amid beautiful countryside and views of the Brecon Beacons. It has a restful feel, comfortable rooms and a free Wi-Fi zone.

We booked this property very last minute, (due to booking with another property and choosing a room with a bath, on arrival, they couldn’t offer us that and we had a refund). We arrived within 5-10 mins of booking and we were met with a friendly wave from someone in a car, in passing. On arrival we were absolutely stunned by the beauty of this property, including a gigantic Christmas tree in the middle of the courtyard that was lit up superbly! We had been left a key with our name on and an envelope with some info too. Heading towards our room was such a good first impression and the room was absolutely beautiful! The bath had a jacuzzi too and I could have cried I was so happy! 🤣 It snowed heavily the night we stayed which made it so magical, due to this, breakfast was prepared, cooked and served by one lady and she did a tremendous job. A really lovely stay and we would definitely return!

Lovely hosts, fantastic location in peaceful countryside but only a short drive to Brecon. Beautiful cottage garden, comfy beds and so quiet at night! Very clean. My fiesty little dog was welcomed too! Handy for the Brecon Park Run and hill walks with amazing views. Lots of provisions left for us, including a bottle of wine. I wanted to give 9.5 rating. Thank you both for a great stay 😊😊
