Being away from tourist areas in Aswan was what we wanted. The guesthouse was on the West Bank of the Nile in a peaceful, bucolic setting (farming area, cows, goats, camels, donkeys). The room (107) we had was in the new wing so good shower, AC, etc. and the ceiling built in the Nubean style. At dawn, as the sun hits, the ceiling is illuminated like the night sky. Although far away, the busy Aswan world is only a short(and free) on-demand boat ride away. So we had access to restaurants across the way. Tomb of the Nobles is walkable, but I think the guesthouse would have taken us by boat if I asked. The facilities themselves reminded me of a beach resort in the Philippines, with views to die for and easy access to the Nile. Tables and chairs scattered about for breakfast and soft drinks. Sometimes they might have other meals available but check in the morning.
The best part of the experience is the staff who were friendly and welcoming: Hossam, Sayid, and the two older boys named Mohammed. Of note: we picked up virus before coming to Aswan, and started showing symptoms there. Hossam personally escorted us to the “tourist” hospital Al-germaniya and stayed for three hours with us so he could accompany us back to guesthouse. We would not have managed the bureaucratic process without him. When we gave him bakhshish/tip, he absolutely refused it.
Owner Taha had arranged for taxi to airport($15), which was not a bad price. Although you can only speak with Taha over the phone, don’t hesitate to ask Hossam to speak to him if you need anything. If you’re coming into Aswan late in the day, ask to be picked up from airport because the place is not easy to find.

The family that runs the house is super hospitable and welcoming. The place is clean, in a quiet location and has a beautiful view of the Nile and Nubian tombs. Beds were comfortable and showers were hot. The rooftop was amazing for relaxing. The nightly family dinner is delicious.

This is by far the place where I felt the biggest hospitality from the hosts in my stay in Egypt. We arrived late at night and they waited for us at the ferry. It's around 5 min walk from there.
We had a nice view to the Nile river and the bed was good to have some rest after a long trip

The location was amazing our room had a balcony overlooking the Nile from Elephantine island and the rooftop had spectacular views. Ahmed the host did everything he could to support us during our stay, organizing breakfast, boat trips, and a taxi transfer to Luxor. Would highly recommend staying here. The staff were extremely friendly and accommodating. They gave me plenty of recommendations and did not overcharge for water (like many hostels and hotels do). The area felt safe as staff as well as locals from the village would assist if need be.

The locals on the island are all very friendly and talkative. Lots of good food places on the island asw well. Room was very clean. Organised a boat transfer for us for free to get onto the island for the first time.
Bassam was a great host, no pressure or hassle like so common in Egypt; booked several tours for us at a fair price. The upstairs terrace was lovely, even though it was hot.

It was no problem leaving at 4M for an early drive to Abu Simbel - the 10 minute ferry runs all night and a continental breakfast from 3am with a foil takeout box upon asking.
The 360 panorama is absolutely spectacular and a great choice over the Cataract Hotel - thankyou for the room upgrade to a wonderful garden suite - it was greatly appreciated 😊
I’m convinced this is the best place to stay in Aswan. It might be a little bit hard to find in the island, but there were locals who kindly showed me the way upon my arrival. There’s a beautiful garden, the staff is friendly and the room is very nice. The breakfast they serve is superb and you can also buy water and soda’s for a good price instead of having to go to a shop.
Extra points for having the goodest dog in Aswan.
The experience is unmatched. First homestay and very memorable. Family friendly atmosphere. Comfy room and bathrooms. Trip along the Nile to Philae Temple. Eating dinner together was special. Really tasty food. Relaxing in the evening and listening to locals play music. Being able to absorb the Nubian culture was special.

It was nice to stay on the West Bank and use the ferry over to the main city on the East Bank with all the locals. Very cheap and easy, but is something to be aware of.
