The Koi Room is a lovely, relaxing, calm stay on a small hill overlooking Ciudad Quesada, San Carlos. The many windows allow a fresh breeze to flow through and give a magnificent view (clouds permitting!) of the mountains across the valley. Host Kristina is wonderful and accommodating, and the pets (three cats and two dogs) are adorable. The space is quiet and clean, with super cute decorating; the bathroom design is lovely.
We arrived tired on our road trip and were delighted to have juice, coffee, tea, and snacks in the room. The outdoors koi (goldfish) pond with its soothing little waterfall is a delight.
Follow the GPS and turn before the pulperia (little store) on the unpaved road. It is fantastic to be in a quiet neighborhood with no traffic noise.

Travelers on a budget looking to experience a place like a local will enjoy homestays. These simple accommodations are in a private home, where the host also lives. All facilities are shared and in most cases breakfast is included.
We had a great homestay thanks to the hosts! If you love dogs, the house is perfect. They foster dogs (who are well trained!) there is a big garden to enjoy, excellent WiFi and a good kitchen. We loved the hospitality of the owners the most! The house is a bit out of center, but they offered us to drive us several times! If you have a rental car, it’s even easier.
