We didn’t like anything - we didn’t get to stay here because they were closed for several weeks and did not inform us or cancel our booking. So we turned up on magnetic island and walked 30 mins in the heat with our backpacks to be left stranded without accommodation. Thankfully after knocking on the locked doors for an hour we bumped into a random person nearby who told us they’d locked up and were closed for two more weeks! Tried to contact the property and they didn’t respond. Still haven’t received a message from them about this.
Travellers on a budget looking to experience a place like a local will enjoy homestays. This simple accommodation is in a private home, where the host also lives. All facilities are shared and in most cases breakfast is included.
This is our second stay at this iconic Townsville Hotel. Once again Richard was a lovely host and we enjoyed the views from the sweeping verandas. The location is excellent and it's excellent value for money!
The location is great, walking distance to the town, very good value for money. I liked the breakfast that they provided, my twin room (11) was, clean and tidy, the bonus for me, being next door to the shared female bathroom.

When the staff came to do housekeeping, they only wanted to change the towels
& they refused to change our sheets, even though we requested them to do so,
Now this is a very poor customer service provider.
We had to go to reception & ask for the staff to attend, making our bed & changing the sheets after 3 nights of being booked into the Aquarius,
Not very good hosting.
