We loved the staff (tnx Robin)! They were amazing and friendly. Best staff of all places. You can arrange a trekking with them (go Riski and Henri!). The food was great, the bungalow was beautiful and the surroundings are so green. Facilities are good, mosquito net is present. The bungalow is a bit basic but we didn't mind, it is the jungle after all!
Jhonny and his crew and family were amazing. From the first moment you feel part of the jungle family. And the location was perfect, royal bungalows at the edge of bukit lawan, sandwiched between the jungle and the river. It’s so perfect even a mama orang utan came to check it out. There’s monkeys on the roofs in the afternoon, its amazing! Look nu further!!
Very nice bungalows near the river where you can swimm! They organised a super 4 days Jungle Trek for our family with a really fantastic guide (Ponidi). He was just super nice with our kids, and very careful during the trek.
We did spend two nights at Sam‘s Bungalows and it was just amazing. Very friendly stuff, very new and luxurious rooms with hot water and a restaurant which is serving delicious breakfast and dinner. Also we recommend as a highlight the one day jungle tracking tour - have seen 15! Orang Utans and many further animals.
I like how the staff managed our needs.
We were a group of six people and they managed to pick us up all from the bus station to the site by providing us with six motorcycles as well.
They also provided two of my friends with trekking shoes.
They were really helpful too.
They gave us a ride back from the site to the bus station.
Our trekking was also accompanied by friendly and knowledgeable trekking guides, so we could learn some vegetation of the Gunung Leuser.
Lastly, the view from our bungalow was the best.
The owner was really helpful with everything and communication was easy (his english is really good). The last day, he organised us a taxi within a few minutes, for a fair price, what we appreciated. The Guesthouse is really small: only three bungalows. Even if Bukit Lawang is really touristy, we didn‘t feel like that.
We did the jungle trek through the property and had an amazing time with our two lovely guides. The staff were always super accommodating and friendly, offering great advice and tours. The bungalows were clean and had everything you need for your stay.
There was so many cute monkeys in the trees at the property too! We loved everything about our stay here😃
Tia, the manager was fantastic from start to finish. I had called her weeks before arriving and she arranged the transfer from the airport, guide and was helpful in every way. The meals were good too and she was just great to be around. Kind and caring. The location is great and on the last morning an Orangutan and her baby came to feed on the Mango tree next to the bungalow.
It was all perfect. Because the bugalows are located directly at the river the view is amazing. Also the bungalow itself was of a good size and decorated nicely. Also the staff and the owner of the bungalows are really friendly and helped with the organisation of the jungle trek and the village tour. All in all it was a perfect stay. I highly recommend to stay here during your time in Bukit Lawang.
Sam’s Bungalows is quiet and isolated. You stay at the top of this narrow way that locate most of the tourist housing in Bukit Lawang. Therefore you will find lots of local restaurants while listening to jungle sounds. Sam’s kitchen is definitely one of the best, the food is excellent and the service provided is really good. We also used their taxi service from Medan airport. Perfect stay in Bukit Lawang!
