We spent a delightful 6 days at La Bougainvillier Blanc in late January. We have poor French-language skills but we managed quite well, aided by a translation app on our phone (you need lots of data - 50 MB).
We deliberately didn’t rent a car - that worked because we like walking. If that’s not your preference, you’ll have an easier time with a rental. Our favourite places were the larger local beach, Plage Caraibe, (great snorkelling at the north end) which was about 5 km away, and the Chute de Acomet, a beautiful little waterfall with lots of little pools downstream, which was 7.5 km away. That made for some long walks with some significant hills. Fortunately, there is also a local transport system available which made it easy to get to the other nearby beach (Plage de Petite Anse). Hitch-hiking is considered normal. Good local maps are free at the tourist office. Our gracious host Lucien has a wonderful little swimming pool at the guesthouse, so an end-of-day swim was part of our routine.
The trickiest part for us was dinner – we tried to get back to La Bougainvillier Blanc by sunset to avoid walking in the dark, but most restaurants only opened later. We worked around this by eating a large late lunch (good choices at the beaches), eating at the one restaurant that opened at 17:00 (An Ba Tol La), or else making our own dinner in our well-equipped kitchen. If you have a car, there are at least 3 good restaurants close by.
Pointe-Noire is not a tourist town so most shops close in the afternoon. Some useful shops that are open most of the day are along the main road (N2) – there are two pharmacies in the centre of town, and a large grocery ((Carrefour Express) and a good bakery/coffee shop on the southern half of town. We weren’t looking for a lot of tourist activities – just a quiet, peaceful time with low-key, interesting things to do each day. La Bougainvillier Blanc and Pointe-Noire were perfect for that.

I loved the whole amenities. Sleeping in the jungle is a very special experience. The cottages are god, new and very cosy. It was great fun especially for the kid. Animals right there at the doorstep. Amazing!

It was a pleasure staying in Villas Mandju for 2 weeks. The Bungalow is perfectly located to easily explore the island with day trips but also to relax at the private pool. The Villa is well equipped and small concerns were immediately resolved by Sinthia. Thank you for this pleasant stay!
The host was very reactive. The bungalow is close to beautiful beaches (Plage de la Perle, Plage de Clugny...) and to a Leclerc supermarket. The accommodation included all necessary stuff.
This place was phenomenal. Very clean and spacious, with a comfortable bed and well-equipped kitchen. The garden/terrace/swimming pool area was one of the most relaxing spaces I've had the pleasure to spend time in!
Close (walking distance) to a gorgeous beach with coastal hiking east and west, and located in a quiet little suburb.
I had a great time staying at Coco Bungalows. Rémy gave me a warm welcome with some 'Ti Punch, and was always helpful.
It felt like a temporary home to me and I would love to go there again some day!
