The stay was perfect. The room was very comfortable and the location was excellent. The breakfast was great and the people were so helpful and friendly. Very well organized, Dedy Cool letting us know in advance the distance from the airport and helping with getting to the hotel. We did the one day tour and it was provided by fantastic tour guides who were extremely knowledgeable about the rainforest and Orangutangs. We would highly recommend.

Magpie homestay & jungle trekking is situated in Bukit Lawang. This property offers access to a terrace, free private parking and free WiFi. 5 stars is not enough to rate our experience! We had a really great time at Magpie homestay. The accomodation is pretty, comfortable, clean, and surrounded by a very beautiful and private tropical garden. The host will cater to your every need, from transportation to local activities and offers delicious homemade meals. We also booked a day-long trek with them and it was perfect, the guide and his assistant did everything they could for us to have the best experience in the forest (and we did!). If you want to discover a bit more the tourist part of the village you will have to walk a little to reach it (or use a tuktuk), the path is easy to follow and you'll be able to get a good view of the area. The entrance of the park is a short walk from Magpie.

We recently had the pleasure of staying in the Rumah Gadang Tokama and we can't express enough how incredible our experience was. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with open arms by the most warm and hospitable host family. The historic building itself was awesome. It felt like we had stepped back in time, surrounded by the history and timeless beauty of the place. What truly set this stay apart, however, was the extraordinary kindness and helpfulness of the host family. They went above and beyond to ensure our comfort and enjoyment throughout our visit. We couldn't have asked for a more enchanting experience.

Offering a peaceful retreat amidst natural greenery, Horas Family Home is located in Tuk Tuk area on Samosir Island. Guests enjoy a direct access to Lake Toba and free WiFi. Everything, starting from the friendly atmosphere of a family run hotel with many facilities and activities for the guests. We lived in a wonderful apartment: clean, well furnished, ample and comfortable. We did not use the kitchen facilities that were available and exploited instead the very attractive and satisfactory meal options provided by the structure itself. In a word, we have been coddled for the whole length of our stay. Should we come back to lake Toba (which we hope) this will be the first address to look for.

Featuring air-conditioned accommodation with a private pool, pool view and a patio, Balinese Villa in Berastagi is set in Berastagi. This is a beautiful property and without doubt the most luxurious and well maintained property in the area. It is an escape from the busy market town, somewhere to just relax after a day exploring. We were delighted to find such a large well appointed and luxurious villa with great staff. The owner was able to accommodate a request for breakfast and organise dinners for us also (at extra cost) which was great. This property very much has an international feel to it in the way they look after you. We had not planned to spend so much time in the villa but it was so good we spend more time in than out.
