The host, Luís, is very friendly and ready to help you. The neighbourhood is safe and people there are very friendly (if you say you’re staying by Luís, they treet you almost like their family!). The apartment is newly furnished with furniture and decorations made by local artists and craftsmen, the kitchen is well equipped for making coffee and cooking, there is a fridge, coffe maker, stove etc. The architecture respects the local climate (small windows etc.) so it is pleasantly cool even in the worst midday heat without the need for air-conditioning. Everything is spotless clean and big plus – there is no heavy traffic around the house but you are still 10 minutes walk from the old town, seaside, market etc. Infront of the house is a charming restaurant runed by US/capeverdian couple called Cusinha d’terra where you can get local dishes and drinks (I recommend their ponche and fried inhamo!). If I ever return to Mindelo, this will be the first place I search on booking!
