Tony picked us up from the railway station in Kiruna to River Camp. He pulled our bags on a sled to our glass cabin. The cabin was nicely laid out, warm and more spacious than our tiny GoPod caravan. The bed was very comfortable. Tony helped us with the Aurora app on our iPhone but because it was cloudy we thought we wouldn’t have any luck with any sightings. However after lying down and looking at the sky for a couple of hours the Aurora showed. It was magnificent and was visible for two hours or so. Tony said it was also showing at 3am but missed that one.
We walked across the frozen river for 20min to reach the Ice Hotel and the Sami village. It was way outside our comfort zone because we had to return in the dark. Take a torch! We used our phone torch.
We crossed again the following day in daylight which was better and less frightening and we saw dog sled teams.
We were so pleased that we had booked the glass cabin because if you’re lucky to see the Aurora, it’s an amazing place to relax and watch the natural spectacular show.
The colours of sunrise are also stunning.

The cabin was cozy, quiet, and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. It was perfect that we could cook our own meals and enjoy breakfast and coffee in the morning. The location was also ideal for hiking in the beautiful surrounding area. Excellent hosts who were quick to respond and always clear in their communication, thank you Albert and Stina!

Great for families or large parties, holiday homes are privately owned accommodation, available for long or short-term rental. These homes are furnished and equipped with kitchen facilities for self-catering, although breakfast may be offered as an add-on. Very nice wooden cabins, in a great location, with a wonderful (wood) sauna. Shared bathroom, but very clean. The shower area is very nice. A common living& kitchen area is also available for guests. The breakfast was really good. We really enjoyed the location and being able to discover more about the Sami culture (as we went there in the summer time (and the reindeers were not there), we got free tickets to the Sami museum, which was a nice bonus). We are sure this place is magical in the winter time.
Lovely little cabin in the quiet lakeside. Very clean and comfortable. Nice little kitchen with refrigerator and electric stove for making your own food.
