We really enjoyed our stay in this charming converted storage house, and it turned out to be the perfect retreat for two. The cozy space featured a well-equipped kitchen, making it easy to prepare meals. With the heat pump and additional heaters, it was super warm and inviting, despite the cold winter outside.
Parking right in front was a real luxury in Japan, and a big plus for us. While the 8-minute walk to the center could be a bit challenging in the winter wearing the geta with sock, it was a lovely way to cool down after a relaxing soak in the onsen. The hosts provided everything we needed for the onsen experience, and their hospitality truly enhanced our stay.
Kinosaki is particularly charming at night, and although it might not be my favorite spot in Japan, spending a night to explore the town is definitely worthwhile. The onsens may not be the best in the country either, but they offer a wonderful experience, especially when walking around in a yukata!!!
Overall, this hidden gem is perfect for anyone looking to unwind and enjoy a unique experience in a beautiful setting. I highly recommend it!

Super warm welcome both when checking in and out! The house is very comfortable, equipped with anything you may need and in a perfect position (5 mins walking from both the train station and the street with the main onsens). We were a group of 5 and stayed unfortunately only one night.

A great change from staying in hotels. Really feel like you are living in a traditional Japanese village. The bath was absolutely amazing and saved our life as it was very cold weather when we came.
Great for families or large parties, holiday homes are privately owned accommodation, available for long or short-term rental. These homes are furnished and equipped with kitchen facilities for self-catering, although breakfast may be offered as an add-on. These properties have their own independent front door, which makes them different to apartments.
Great value for money, brilliant host. The week we were there was very quiet with 2 other guests. Host is lovely and helpful. Lights downstairs go off at 10 pm. Very nice considering it is a hostel and sharing bathrooms/toilets. Very clean. If you come for the onsen, some onsen closes on a certain days of the week. Lovely experience to enjoy in Japan.
We arrived earlier than the checkin hour and we were greeted very nicely and could leave our luggage at the hotel, after checkin we found them in our rooms. The staff was super helpful and friendly and very respectful, at checkout they all accompanied us outside and bowed + gave us umbrellas which we could leave near the train station. The room was super clean and very beautiful with a view to the waterfall and the bamboo forest, the onsens in the building are very clean.
The staff were extremely friendly and the room was very clean. It is a good size for Japan and had a small balcony. The position was excellent for onsen visiting - right in the middle of the majority of the public onsens and close to many restaurants. We only stayed one night and did not have the breakfast. We were welcomed with a small tea ceremony - a very nice personal touch.
Good location - at the far end of town, so a little out the way if you need to walk, but close to the cable way and a nice pretty quiet part of town.
Private onsen was great.
Staff were very friendly - although no-one could really talk English, but they tried.
In general it was very clean, quiet and as described.
Exceptional stay! The staff were very kind and helpful, and the room and general hotel were impeccable. Very clean, and the modernised amenities were amazing. Loved the private hotspring, and our room had an excellent view of the river. Loved hearing everyone walk around in their shoes, and the baths were amazing.
