There is an amazing bakery located outside Shiga station a few steps from the house, which is well worth supporting. Daikichi Yakitori a couple minutes walk up the street was also fabulous. There are a number of small restaurants within walking distance if you don't have a car. Located close to Biwako Valley if you would like to take the cable car up the mountain and enjoy the fabulous views. The bus departs from Shiga station so Biwako Valley is very accessible even without your own transport.
The internet was not working and there were no instructions on how to connect to it. This was replaced within a short time by the host and after sending them pictures of the dirty fridge they also refunded the cleaning fee.

Narita Ohan is a very nice place to stay! We enjoyed our stay in Koyomi house. To be honest, I even was disappointed that we booked a hotel in Osaka, I would prefer to continue staying in Narita Ohan and connect from Kyoto by train every single day planned to be spent in Osaka. Anyways, we liked the house: it had every single thing required during the travel. Especially we enjoyed the washing machine as we have a toddler. Also me and my toddler we used futon while my husband and elder son stayed upstairs in the bedroom. Futon was a nice experience as toddler couldn’t roll away at night.
The location is really good as it’s close to two stations: Inari and Fushimi Inari, so you practically can get anywhere easily. Also there are plenty of convenience stores in walking distance, so we could get groceries. In addition temples located on Inari Mountain are very close if you dare to climb the mountain 🤣 we did it with a stroller and sleeping toddler inside 🥵
So if we decide to visit Kyoto in future Inari Ohan would be in the list of the hotels for consideration.

Such a cute and comfortable stay! The townhouse was clean, efficient, and charming. Location was awesome in the heart of Gion, within walking distance to all the top spots.
BenTen Residences offer a Japanese machiya accommodations in the heart of Higashiyama, Kyoto. Yasaka Shrine is 7 minutes on foot, while Kiyomizu Temple is a 14-minute stroll.

Superb stay! Our family thoroughly enjoyed the home. It had everything we needed and was in a fantastic location. The neighborhood is tranquil and peaceful. This was the highlight of our two week Japan trip that also included Tokyo and Osaka. Our host Takesan was so wonderful and responsive. I highly recommend staying here and would love to come back again.
Great for families or large parties, vacation homes are privately owned accommodations, available for long or short-term rental. These homes are furnished and equipped with kitchen facilities, though breakfast might be offered as an add-on. These properties have their own independent front door, which makes them different than apartments.
Lovely food, staff, baths, own private dining room, meticulous service and very clean area. I think it’s almost impossible to top in those regards. The room with its own hotspring was divine. The massage was excellent. Would recommend.
I had the whole room for myself, but they said there would be another person. Which really confused me and it felt like I was waiting for someone to show up.
But the room and kitchen and stuff were very clean and nice.
The location is good, next to the lake. We drove there and the parking was spacious. The public bath area was good and very clean, but there were many people after dinner.
The hotel provides shuttle bus to the train station, although we didn't use it.
There was a mistake during the parking that even though the ticket was scanned at the front desk, the machine charged us for the parking. The reception was really helpful and reimburse the expense by cash right away. Thank you very much.
Everything was very clean, and the onsen feels so good after a hole day of snowboard.
Staff was very kind, they even help me when my snowboard boot broke.
The kitchen has a lot of utilities and coffe/tea free.
Definitely i highly recommend it and i’ll come back again when i go snowboard
