By far the perfect stay we ever had (and we traveled around the world)!
It's exactly as in the photos. It exceeded our expectations. Self check-in and check-out at any hour between the check-in and check-out set times. Extremely easy to find (although you can't find it on google maps). The host tells you exactly where it is in Sudureyri and how to get in, by message on the day of arrival.

The house sleeps six, but is ideal for a party of four. It has a huge living room and two bedrooms - a double bed in the first, and another double in the other room with a single bed above, which can be reached via a small ladder. The house is cosily furnished, with plenty of seating and a well-equipped kitchen. The bathroom has a bath with shower facilities (in the bath) and there is even a washing machine. In contrast to many other Icelandic accommodations, this flat bears the clear signature of the owner, obviously art-loving and well-travelled. Real art on the walls, zebra skins as carpets on the floor and a funny mixture of bric-à-brac and souvenirs from fleemarkets and holidays.... Some things are a little worn, shabby-chic-like, but stylishly put together and quaint, cosy and generally clean. The beds are comfortable, the heating works, the windows can be darkened to some extent with dark curtains. There is no TV, but fast internet, occasionally a little temperamental. There is parking outside the front door and you can hang up your washing behind the house. From the kitchen, which is integrated into the living room, you have a view over a car park and the street to the harbour. The outside area is a bit unkempt, a steep wooden flight of stairs leading tot he terrace a bit wobbly, but that didn't bother us. As is usual in Iceland, you don't get to see the landlord here either. However, he is very friendly, helpful and reliable in email correspondence. We felt very comfortable there, it was "our beautiful house" for 12 days.
Great for families or large parties, holiday homes are privately owned accommodation, available for long or short-term rental. These homes are furnished and equipped with kitchen facilities for self-catering, although breakfast may be offered as an add-on. These properties have their own independent front door, which makes them different to apartments.
Central and quiet location; nicely furnished and decorated; the room, shared bathroom and kitchen all very clean; very friendly and helpful staff - hard to require more.
My second time staying at Sigurhæðir and it was very good. The apartment is on the ground floor with a private entrance around the back of the house, and it is very quiet and serene. The place is very clean and well-equipped for a short stay. Overall, very good, and would book again.
Location was very convenient to main part of town and quiet. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I noticed Breakfast items were refilled as the offerings depleted (I have seen in other hotels a lack of this courtesy ) The room and bathrooms were very clean.
