We looked at a lot of places before booking Riza Stone Cottage for two weeks of our month long vacation in Corfu. The photos online made the place look so unbelievable romantic and we were sure that the reality would likely be different. But we trusted the reviews and went ahead. Our first thoughts as we explored the cottage, garden and grounds is that the place was even more picturesque in real life. The outdoor eating, cooking, lounging, relaxing and play areas nestled nicely into a beautifully maintained garden and the tastefully decorated interior was a delight and we enjoyed every moment there.
Vasso, the owner/host made sure to make some of our moments extra memorable by inviting us for dinner one evening at a traditional Corfu restaurant where she mixed us the most incredible Greek salad that we have ever tasted. She ordered us local dish after dish, paired with local wine, beer and Ouzo. She told us about the origins of the cottage as her family’s stables and her vision in converting it to the idyllic get away that it has become. Knowing the effort and attention to detail that went into collecting the different pieces of art, furniture and even the fixtures, made the experience of staying here have a truly local touch.
Despite the welcoming cool interior, we just could not resist spending as much time as possible in the well appointed outdoors. Breakfast everyday was a royal affair at the marble table with locally produced butter, feta and bread from the two stores that were minutes away from the cottage. Once we finished breakfast, a bounty of fruits awaited us - we feasted on fresh plucked plums and figs from the garden. Many a day we ignored the lavishly appointed bathroom for the outdoor shower when we came back covered in salt and sand from one of the nearby beaches - a convenient touch.
In short this place is exceptional. Well located in the center of the island, you need a car, but there are many nearby things to see.

We really enjoyed our stay at this place. The house is very clean with lots of small decorative elements, which has everything you need. Everything is in very good condition and looked by host. Many thanks to Mrs Areti for the excellent communication and valuable information about the island. We recommend it for a holiday in Corfu.
