Holly Cottage, hotel in Retford

Holly Cottage is a recently renovated holiday home in Gringley on the Hill, where guests can make the most of its garden and barbecue facilities.

Everything was absolutely lovely! I came here for my birthday with my friend and we were not disappointed! Everything was absolutely spotless and comfortable and they even left little extras like yogurts/cereal/milk/fruit wtf which we didn’t expect. When we were unable to get a taxi the lovely lady helped out massively by giving us a lift to the bus station which we couldn’t thank her enough for! 100% recommend staying here!

Ruddingwood Lodge, hotel in Retford

Offering a garden and garden view, Ruddingwood Lodge is situated in Tuxford, 25 km from Sherwood Forest and 30 km from Lincoln University.

Excellent quiet location for us where we could all be together, rather than separate hotel rooms. Great communal living room and kitchen with all you could need, host even provided milk and eggs, along with a very friendly cat! Large field and various outdoor and indoor games available to use. Great size shower and two toilets which was ideal for the five of us with instant hot water and heating in all rooms.

My room was extremely comfortable and spacious. The drinks and snack were more then adequate, and the room and bathroom very clean. I personally, would have preferred a walk-in shower, as it is much safer. I slipped, and only noticed the bath mat afterwards, as it was rolled up on the bath corner, and blended into the background ( same colour ) Anyway, all good, and just a personal preference. My 1 night stay was really a great experience, and I would highly recommend it...especially it being quite central.

Keith was incredibly helpful and responsive! He made sure I had the app and that I understood the instructions and access codes. The rooms are quite central with easy access to most main shops in the area. Our room was rather small but very clean; there were clean towels and some small toiletries.

The hotel was quiet and well run and placed in excellent surroundings: the fine gardens. The booking was very smooth and the service friendly and efficient. We enjoyed dinner and breakfast in attractive dining rooms. The room was very clean and comfortable and well suited to our needs: a break in travel to the north of England. The gardens were refreshing to explore after a long drive. We did not know Retford but were glad look round and to understand its history.
