We started coming here in 2001 with Mum and Dad, when it was under the Duke of Northumberland, we've not been since 2014 so thought it was about time we had a mini break over New Year. Booked well over a year ago. Not stayed in the smaller property before, always stayed in the 3 bedroom one so wasn't sure what to expect. We did end up booking an extra night, so 5 nights in total.
The quality is great however. The welcome pack was unexpected but very lovely. All the bits I'd forgotten to bring were already here like dishwasher tablets, hand soap, washing up liquid. There's a washer and a dryer too. And a Christmas tree!!!
Although the bed was a little harder than I was expecting, it was nice to have so much room. 2 beds attached together.
4 of everything, 4 cups, 4 glasses and so on.
Coffee maker, microwave, toaster, oven etc. The light over the hob didn't work and the lighting was OK but a bit dark.
Bathroom is a good size with walk in shower, but no where to put your things ie shelf near sink. Towels also provided but I brought some anyway.
Hairdryer provided but I also brought my own too.
The only down side was it was very cold, despite central heating, it never seemed to get warm and we couldn't get the fire to work. Luckily I brought a big blanket with us. Next time I'll bring a hot water bottle too.
We've been coming here for such a long time, I just find it a really nice comforting place to stay.. you do need a car however as there's no local shops, but there is a pub about 2 mins walk.
There is a spa etc on site, think it's been here about 10 years now, we've not used it but it looks popular.
Allocated parking spaces too.
Situated a few miles off A1, handy for Seahouses and Bamburgh, and about 20mins north of Alnwick. Already planning our next trip, if you're lucky you may also catch an aurora as the skies are crystal clear

The property was lovely and clean, great location. It was well equipped with everything we needed. Communication was excellent with the staff, the garden was secure for the dog. Fabulous welcome pack with lots of goodies for us and the pooch. Decorated lovely for Christmas with all the cottages having Christmas trees and lights outside.
The Apple Inn was a short walk away with great food.

We spent christmas at Riverside View. It was amazing! Nicholas had left us a gift alongside some local goodies which was a lovely welcome. The hot tub was wonderful to relax in. The house was beautifully decorated for the festive season and had everything we needed. I've never had such a relaxing Christmas!

We knew from the pictures and the messages that this would be a real one-off with some quirky features and that's exactly what it was. Loads of space, lovely rooms and plenty of utensils etc.

Lovely location and excellent parking
Cottage was cosy and warm for us on a cold week in November. Cooking facilities best ever had, lovely comfy beds too. Plenty of comfortable space to chill and relax after a rather chilly walk.

Great for families or large parties, holiday homes are privately owned accommodation, available for long or short-term rental. These homes are furnished and equipped with kitchen facilities for self-catering, although breakfast may be offered as an add-on. These properties have their own independent front door, which makes them different to apartments.
The lodge was beautiful and very clean. The owner had left milk in the fridge, tea, coffee and Border biscuits which was a lovely touch. It was like a home from home, everything you needed, there was towels, tea towels, toilet rolls, cleaning products, black bags, cleaning clothes , sponges. The location of the lodge was beautiful looking over the lake with the swans and geese, we had a very relaxing and enjoyable stay.
Location on the caravan site and location for the area. Well equipped for any cooking. Very clean. Owner available to answer call when we arrived at property. Given plenty of time to provide details for arrival for the camp security.
What went well was the friendliness and good sense of humour of Jimmy, the host, and the informative things he told us about the surrounding areas. The grounds of the house were beautiful and the livestock were charming. The bedroom was large light and airy and the bed very clean and comfortable.
Very nice full English breakfast.
The caravan and park were very clean and comfortable. It was a lovely site, with lots of green space and small lakes. The caravan itself was in a semi enclosed area which gave a little privacy. We very much enjoyed site seeing in the area and communication with the owners was excellent.
The holiday home was very clean and well presented. Loved the welcome gift that was left out for us.
The holiday home is on a quieter part of the site with a view of the lake and of haggerston castle.
Haggerston castle is close to several beaches and alnwick castle and gardens, which made this holiday home the perfect choice for us
