He drove 50 mins to meet us, and spent couple hours to communicate and translation for us with the towing and insurance company. We are very appreciated with his enthusiasm and help.

We arrived much later than anticipated due to the roads to Takachiho, but the owner went out of her way so we would be able to check in and get to shower and eat before the doors closed down. The place has multiple restaurants and bars around, and a gas station. Convenience stores are pretty far, so don't count on those unless you are willing to drive for a few minutes.
