This hotel has a wonderful local vibe. It was easily our favorite hotel experience of our two week trip to Thailand. If you want a pool, exercise room, a tv with many channels, etc, this is not the place for you. But if you want a delightful, quiet, authentic experience with very accessible self-laundry, uncomplicated-and-tasty breakfast, nearby coffee shop … all at a great price … this is the place.

I loved my stay at Villa Mungkala! Great location in the heart of Bangkok, just a 15 min walk to the Grand Palace and other main attractions. The breakfast each day was delicious and I loved sitting in the breakfast area and chatting with the owner. I felt very safe as a sole female traveler, and would definitely stay here again!

Tiny boutique hotel that really takes care of you. The staff were fantastic. The room was very nice, quiet and a great bed. If you want to be in that area of Bangkok I highly recommend it.

An exceptional find. Small, cozy guesthouse in the heart of Chinatown. Located 1 block off Yaowarat in a small alley. Was amazingly quiet given the location. Owner was super nice and breakfast was different and delicious every morning. There are steps to the rooms, no problem for me but maybe for some. Room was exactly as pictured and lovely. From this location I could explore all of Chinatown and Talat noi on foot. 100% recommend and would be my pleasure to stay again. My favorite so far.

This was one of the nicest places we’ve stayed in Thailand. The room & bathroom were large with a great balcony. The bed was really comfy and big. The host supplied plenty of water in the fridge. The location is a little far from the tourist sites, but it was easy to take a grab/taxi or the ferry. Plenty of great restaurants in the surrounding areas too.
Warm and welcoming guest houses are ideal for travelers who prefer laid-back accommodations with a personal touch. Usually family run, these hosts will provide local recommendations and even optional meals. Guest houses sometimes feature a cozy living room or a garden – and are still cheaper than most regular hotels.
I loved that Matini is close to the station, cheap, clean, friendly English-speaking staff, quiet, big comfortable seating areas, lots of natural light, free coffee, cold drinking water, fridge, big table, spacious safe storage with cheap padlocks, free WiFi, sockets, curtains for each bed, comfortable beds with towels provided, cheap delicious food available to order and hand delivered. The staff also helped me order a taxi to Koh Chang.
All we needed for the 3 nights in bangkok.
Used grab to get around which was cheap! Tried the trains but soo busy! Great coffee close by and eating places walking distance.
Plenty of drinking water, washing machine which was awesome. Shared kitchen space. V good aircon. Nicely refurbished!
Great location to the main train station and Chatuchak Weekend market, modern, clean, and they were happy for me to leave luggage and lounge around in their very comfortable communal area before catching the overnight train to Chiang Mai.
What I am satisfied with this hostel is their quiet and comfortable vibe they offer and the accommodation is totally great. The reception clerks are polite, friendly and helpful. I also met some quite good friends here. I regard the friendship and the experience to travel here great valuable stuff in my life. Thanks for the quiet and wonderful accommodation you offered.
This may be titled "hostel" and priced like one -but this hostel can easily be mistaken for a boutique hotel.
Amazing rooms and shared space.
Lockers huge,and with light inside.
Beds with 4 electric outlets -2 electric and 2 USB each.
