Communication with the host was fine, arriving at the apartment was easy, the keys were in the safe as we agreed. Unfortunately, the apartment, which is advertised as new, was completely unequipped, no facilities for preparing breakfast, only a really small fridge, the beds were uncomfortable, the pillow was thin, as if it wasn't there at all. Air conditioning is missing and would be really needed. There is nothing in the bathroom to put things to wash, there is no dryer, there are desperately few towel hooks, everything smells musty. There is no shoe rack or hanger in the corridor. For the money, it's miserable.
Warm and welcoming guest houses are ideal for travellers who prefer unfussy accommodation with a personal touch. They are usually family-run, and your host will provide local recommendations and optional meals. Often cheaper than regular hotels, guest houses can also feature a cosy living room and a garden.
