Situated very close to the city centre (10 minutes walk) and close to the mountains (30 minutes drive).
The landlady was extremely welcoming, and she could speak English and French.

I was skeptical because the reviews seemed a bit too positive but it was really incredible. The garden is amazing and even has a kitchen in it, and the host offered us to take tomatoes and peppers and shared homemade zacusca with us. He also gave us recommendations for a great hike to take up Mount Retezat and informed us many things about the surrounding area. The only thing to mention though is that he doesn't speak English, luckily my friend who was traveling with me speaks Romanian!
