The cottage is very beautiful, in a very quiet location. The host served a delicious breakfast. We had dinner at the hosts daughter's restaurant near the castle. Dinner was amazing and well presented, and the overall experience of walking to the restaurant after dark was a highlight.

The Guesthouse is lovely and the host is very welcoming. We chose this particular Guesthouse for its peaceful location and the good reviews online, it did not disappoint. Our room was clean and comfortable with ample space , storage and ensuite. The kitchen is well equipped for the self-caterers and there are a couple of cafe/restaurants within easy walking distance.
A good location for a stress-free getaway in Vale Formoso, Quinta Formosa is a guest house surrounded by views of the garden.

The location was excellent for visiting many historial sites within easy driving distance including Belmonte, Monsanto, Sortelha, Penamacor and Indanha-a-Velha. The quinta is a working farm with beautiful fruit trees that were full of cherries when I visited and they provided a full bowl for my enjoyment in the room every day. My room had a small balcony which was perfect for sitting and watching the sun set over the mountains. The room is very well equipped with a comfortable bed, full size closet, chairs, table and small refrigerator. The bathroom has all the usual amenities including a hairdryer. The accommodation is owned and run by a lovely couple who made me feel at home ensuring I was comfortable and well looked after, including providing me with a jug of hot water in the evenings for my coffee. Breakfast was a true delight with a spread of bread, ham, homemade jams and cakes and also cheese from the region. The room was spotless and the pool area was delightful for relaxing either in the shade or sunbathing. There are also a few short, but nice hiking trails close by which are great for an early morning walk.

We absolutely loved the cozy feeling of the property. The location was perfect as well - nestled in the mountains but still within a short driving distance from Sortelha and Sabugal. There are also many other charming villages in the area that are definitely worth a visit!
The host is super, on our arrival we had homemade cupcakes and a small drink waiting for us. We were tired and it was late so Marisa quickly produced some soup, fruit and cheese. All homemade. Ask the host about the honey and olive oil for sale. Truly tops!

Communication with the host, the perfectly quiet location and beautiful area, the welcoming feel of the house, the abundance of food! We would recommend future guests to be prepared to drive to find open restaurants and to keep in mind that many (though not all) restaurants close on Sunday and Monday.

Full of character. The house is perfect; very comfortable and beyond our expectations. Mrs Matos was the perfect host; looking after us and even giving us a brief history of the village and castle. The evening was peaceful and a joy to sit outside and hear peace and quiet. Fantastic. The castle, less that 5 minutes walk further up the road is a step into history.

Very friendly host, tasty breakfast with fresh fruit, tasty meats and cheese, plus homemade cakes and jams. The house is two minutes walk from the lovely castle area, and from two good restaurants and a small shop. There is also a small bar right at the top of the castle with a great view. We found a fabulous 5 mile circular walk from the door of the house - amazing! Parking just outside the front door too.
