I booked this place in Coimbra originally to stay for 4 days and I came here because I'm visiting friends. The place was perfect for me and I ended up extending for two weeks. The building is one block from a ton of restaurants and shops on the main road that leads to the downtown.
On top of it being central, the rooms are fairly large and comfortable and have stone bathrooms. There's places to store my luggage and there's a kitchen downstairs where you can make food and mingle with other guests.
After a couple of weeks, it felt like home and i'd definitely stay here again.

The view of both sides from our room, especially the city side. The outstanding hospitality was incredible from the moment we stepped into the hotel from check-in to check-out. Anna was super helpful throughout our stay. Location was wonderful walking distance but not for the faint hearted when walking back up. Cardio game needed! The location is super close to the University where we had a lot of time to join a tour to see the Joanina library, Royal Palace, and the Chapel the next morning.

We found this small hotel to be extremely charming, comfortable and perfectly located in downtown Coimbra. Our third-floor room (Cidreira) was clean and spacious, with sound-dampening panels on the shutters to minimize street noise. The antique pharmacy that served as the lobby was a very charming spot to enjoy the complimentary coffee, tea, fruit and muffins. Since the hotel is largely self-service, we could arrive and depart when it suited us, and we availed ourselves of their convenient luggage storage after checkout. While the lobby isn't constantly staffed, we met two staff members during our visit and both were very pleasant and helpful. We would definitely stay there again if we return to Coimbra.

We had a wonderful stay in this beautiful hostel. It feels more like a bed and breakfast than a hostel if you reserve a private room. The room was impeccably clean, very comfortable, and breakfast was quite satisfying! The owners were also so thoughtful and kind, and take amazing care of the property! Even though it was a little rainy, the hiking nearby was really pretty, and it’s easy to hike or drive to explore a few of the schist villages from Lousã. We’d be thrilled to return!!
Maria was a lovely host and greeted us with homemade cake and drinks. Breakfast was delicious: cake, homemade jams, bread, coffee, juice, fresh fruits, eggs, cheese and ham. Beautiful property. We didn't realise there was no fridge in the room, but Maria was kind to lend us a bit of space in her fridge.
Beautiful location in old rural village!! Communication with friendly host was good. Comfortable beds. Very quiet at night. They are busy building a swimming pool so there were some noise during the day. Raining so we could not go for a walk.

The house is perfectly located 10km outside Lousã. The surrounded area is quiet and very beautiful. The view is breathtaking for people wanting to switch off for a couple of days.

A beautiful, newly renovated house. Everything is new and sparkling clean. There are many thoughtful touches to make your stay memorable; capsules for the Nespresso coffee machine, a jar full of cookies, and more. The location is very central but very quiet and peaceful. There's new (and very quiet) air con in all rooms. The host is lovely and gives loads of useful information about the city, hikes in the area and good restaurants. Highly recommended.
We enjoyed the quiet countryside where Quinta de Vale Escuro is located and the beautiful property. We also enjoyed the swimming pool each afternoon. Our hosts were very accommodating, despite our language challenges. Thank goodness for Google Translate!
One last note - our previous accommodation was canceled by the host due to illness, and this booking was accepted with only one hour notice. We are very grateful for that!
