The authenticity of the Inn. Renovation works have respected a traditional Omani style. The evening dinner was the best Omani food we experienced during our 2 week road trip; very tasty and not too hot. The walk in the Oasis was also a great experience where we met a group of 12 yr old Omani schoolgirls who were excited to speak to us in English,

On the positive side, the rooftop is convenient for families with kids as we were able to order delivery food in the evenings which was easier with small kids. Lots of dust on the floor so bé careful with kids that love to play on the ground, but this rooftop is cool for evenings.

Beautiful historic mud house very well renovated and decorated! The rooftop terrace has an amazing view of palm trees and on the mountain. The owners are also very friendly and helpful. Great stay at Alqalah Inn!

- The owner was friendly and accommodating (we thought we'd be able to pay by card, but the owner doesn't have a card payment terminal, and we didn't have enough cash, but the owner was very relaxed about it and just offered to meet us near the ATM in Al Hamra the next day).
- Being at the top of the accessible part of Jebel Shams, the location is really good to go catch sunset and head to the Balcony Trail.
- There is plenty of space to park your car inside the gated premises and the place feels very safe.
- There is a kitchen which we didn't use, but it can be useful considering the lack of dining out options in the area (only a coffee shop with limited and not-so-tasty options, and an overpriced resort).
We didn't stay anywhere else in Jebel Shams, so it's hard to say whether this place is better or worse than the few others up there in this price range. If you manage your own expectations based on our two dislikes, you'll probably enjoy this guesthouse.

The service was amazing. The location was good too. The view from the restaurant was incredible. Parking was alright. We managed to get a spot just outside the entrance of this village. It was a very short walk to this place from the carpark. We love exploring the whole village of Misfat Al Abriyeen. It was so unique and cozy. We went for a short hike across the oasis to the other side of the village. It was quite a fun hike with the kids. Amazing experience for all of us! :)
Misfah Old House is located in the middle of the old village of Misfat Al Abryeen in Sultanat. It offers traditional accommodations and serves Omani cuisine cooked by local families.
Warm and welcoming guest houses are ideal for travellers who prefer unfussy accommodation with a personal touch. They are usually family-run, and your host will provide local recommendations and optional meals. Often cheaper than regular hotels, guest houses can also feature a cosy living room and a garden.
Nice and clean relaxing place in a tranquil village setting amongst date palm plantations and farms. Great host with amazing hospitality. The host and his team will ensure your stay is perfect and comfortable. Breakfast is tasty local wholesome food, tea and coffee available. Our kids had a great time and it's ideal for all kinds of travellers. Some beautiful areas to visit nearby such as old town and hiking. Host, can help with any excursions and activities and affordable rates.
Great location, with easy access to nearby sites and also close to facilities in town. The room itself was very comfortable and nicely decorated. But more than anything, the hosts were super kind and helpful!
Bait Al Aali is such a unique guesthouse. An old building but very well refurnished and comfortable. The room was super clean. And the bed was so comfortable. But most impressive thing during my stay was the host who was very kind and attentive. Two thumps up. Highly recommended.
Everything was great! Nice location. Perfect for kids and adults as well. Rooms are clean and they serve tasty, big meals.
Hamza is a great host! We are gratefull for his hospitality and unique opportunity to experience Oman’s culture that he gave us!
Hamza truly is a great host, he is kind and caring and obviously loves to welcome guests.
The inn is located within the palm grove, which makes the stay quite authentic. Staying here for the whole evening and enjoying the homemade food and the peace and quiet that the place offers is a must.
Thanks again!

Everything was great. The host is friendly and helpful. Rooms are clean, wifi great, breakfasts are big and tasty. The common area in front of the rooms is extraordinary! Perfect for kids and adults as well. There is even a little swimming pool (protected by the fence). You can see the surrounding mountains from the yard. There are some goats, sheeps, rabbits and even a camel in the backyard garden (ask the host to take you there). The guesthouse is in the quiet area at the end of the town BUT still VERY close to the main street.
Lovely guest house, charming owner with helpful tips and suggestions. Great roof terrace and guest areas. Slept well. Decent breakfast. Great location and convenient for the excellent Bait al Safah culture museum and surrounding village and the charming Misfah. Would recommend.
The guest house is a traditional clay house. Very charming and with a lot of charcter. So far it is the only house on the street that has been renewed. Hopefully more will follow. The owner is lovely and very helpful with anything. We talked to him and he recommended some things to do around the town and also told us about the history of the house. The guest house is very quiet since there are only about ten rooms and it has a wonderful atmosphere because of the clay. From the rooftop terrace there is a gorgeous view over the oasis
If you are looking for an experience, not just a place to sleep, this guesthouse is a must. It's a traditional mud house with an authentic design, frankincense aroma, and an ultra-hospitable host who told us all about the area and great places to visit. There is a nice rooftop where you can chill and drink tea. The village where it's located is also charming.
Despite this house being old, it is very comfortable to stay in, all the amenities are there. The bed was comfortable, the water hot, the room was exceptionally clean
