I stayed at Brookside to break up a long drive from Nelson to Dunedin. The location was convenient and the property was clean and easy to locate. I met the owner and she suggested a great place to eat in Leeston (the Suburban Eatery). I slept very soundly and continued on my travels. A nice alternative to the noise and traffic of Christchurch.

Hosts very friendly, we arrived at Christchurch early in the morning and could leave our luggage even before check in time, allowing us to visit Christchurch without luggage in the car. Very nice and quiet location outside town, but easy to find.
Great location for catching Tranz Alpine train. Hosts were friendly and welcoming, takeaways, pub and train station within easy walking distance. Even though it is right by SH1 - road noise did not disturb us at all. Rooms were comfortable and good kitchen and showers, comfortable beds. The location suited our needs as we were seeing friends nearby in Rolleston and need to travel to Christchurch the next day - very easily accessible to both. The location was quiet, so we had an amazing night sleep. Room was a great size, enough for me to do a morning yoga session, as well as chairs and tables to watch TV etc. Great set up with a range of teas and coffee in the room. Host gave us clear instructions to find the property and we had no issues finding it at all. There was a detailed instruction book in the room too.
