Clean hostel for its age. Great location as it was literally in town. Right by Harbour Street, a charming area with Victorian inspired buildings. Gave the vibe of being transported to another timeline.
Clean and comfortable room, surprisingly quiet even though on the main road. Very friendly helpful host. Great location, can easily walk into the main street, shopping, restaurants and the old quarter, plus there is a supermarket nearby. Comfortable bed.
Greg and Katy were great hosts and made us feel so welcome at The Whitestone. Everything was appropriately set up as our apartment should be…..and lovely soft pillows made our sleep very restful. We loved waking to the chimes of the town clock. The space was quiet and warm with wonderful views spanning the old precinct.
What a bonus having an art space and antique shop downstairs to browse within complete with knowledgeable and genuine proprietors.

Hosts were just wonderful! They provided superb personal touches to make our stay exceptional in every way. If you ask, Dave will give you a detailed itinerary on what to see driving in and out of Oamaru. Things we would have missed without his thorough knowledge of the surrounding area. Our room was bright, spacious, spotless, quiet, and the bed was very comfortable. Breakfast in the morning was wonderful. Orwell Bed and Breakfast is the best place to stay in town in our opinion!!
Had an amazing 2 night stay here. The apartment was beautifully finished, in a great location and very quiet. The hosts were so lovely and really made us feel welcome including inviting us to walk around the stunning garden. Can't recommend highly enough.
You can overlook the ocean lying in bed. Great location-near the Victorian Precint, the harbour, blue penguin colony, and bushy beach. Great host and cozy room with heaters.
Quirky boutique hotel with great hosts. Quiet warm and comfortable and great advice on where to eat dinner.
