Warm and welcoming guest houses are ideal for travellers who prefer unfussy accommodation with a personal touch. They are usually family-run, and your host will provide local recommendations and optional meals. Often cheaper than regular hotels, guest houses can also feature a cosy living room and a garden.
Lindsay and Vicki were great hosts. We felt like we were in the bush but very close to Oban Center. The people on Stewart Island are the best! We had a kaka on our porch railing. Beck of Beaks and Feathers gave us a great kiwi spotting tour under the glorious Milky Way. The visit to Ulva Island was worth every penny and more. Don’t miss the museum — it is very well done. Greg of Aurora Cab Company provided good stories and transportation around the island.
A beautiful quiet and private setting with a lovely feel of being in the bush. Lovely and clean, great size room. Quite possibly the best shower I've ever had in my life! Sue, our host and driver was lovely, and went above and beyond to return to us items left in the room.
Great welcome to Stewart Island. The hosts were very hospitable, let us check in early, took our luggage to the ferry and checked them in for us. Accomodation was fantastic. Great location.
It was a really nice hostel! Given the location on Stewart Island, we mainly just wanted to use the hostel for a place to sleep really. It was a pleasant enough stay, very quiet (given it's on an island) in terms of scenary. Though a bit noisy when people walk around as the rooms are surrounded by a decking / boardwalk so you can hear every footstep.
Kitchen was sizeable and well kitted out. Bathrooms were spacious.
No problems though truth be told. It was a really nice stay, thank you so much!
Great host, magic views, peaceful and quiet unit. Free pickup and drop off.
