Warm and welcoming guest houses are ideal for travelers who prefer laid-back accommodations with a personal touch. Usually family run, these hosts will provide local recommendations and even optional meals. Guest houses sometimes feature a cozy living room or a garden – and are still cheaper than most regular hotels.
Quirky boutique hotel with Indian themed rooms with air conditioning and ceiling fan, very clean and very comfortable, the hotel manager spoke perfect english and it had an extremely busy separate restaurant that did a take away service and served incredible food which we really enjoyed.
This is an exception guest house. Easy to get to and facilities were secure, super clean and spacious. Our hosts Lalee and Sabu were extremely welcoming and we learnt a lot of history and the current day from our chats on arrival and over breakfast. Advice on where to go and what to do in Mannar was appreciated. Mannar was very enjoyable and an ideal place to break the tuktuk drive to Jaffna.
A great place for a short or a longer stay.
A room with your own separate small sitting-area with a sofa and a table.. Possible to bring and make your own te/coffee(water-kettle) and a zink to wash-up. Balcony. A great host-family!!
The hosts are the sweetiest people, attentive and caring. The breakfast is good and the bed is hard but very comfortable. Laundry service. Parking inside garden is safe and the position is quiet but central. Good tips from the host for meals and sightseeing. Free refillable water!
Lovely host family, the place is beautiful, clean and well maintained.
Just take into account that you are not in the city centre, but we liked that as it was not in a busy area.
I had a great time at El Shaddai. Vimal and his wife Rosemary are perfect hosts. All this came with travel advise, long talks in the evening and great food for breakfast and dinner. Vimal even got me in touch with the NGO he is working for and I was received there and got some good insights into the school system of Sri Lanka. I can warmly recommend to come here - you will get great hosts, lots of informations regarding history and a climpse into local family life. Thanks a lot for everything
The house is easy to find. It’s in a quiet area away from the small town. The room was a decent size with clean bedding a comfortable bed and mosquito net. The bathroom had a shower, sink and toilet.
I extended for one more night so I could explore the area a little more.
I took the offer of a paid evening meal and I have to say the food was excellent and good value for money.
I had a good chat with the host who gave me some places to visit.
