Sayura House is a sprawling villa, providing a peaceful retreat from the frenzy of Colombo. Staff were all lovely and clearly work very hard. Gamini was very welcoming and spent time chatting with me. The rooftop terrace offers a wonderful view of the sea, as well as opportunities to spot plenty of bird life early in the morning. Oh, and we mustn't forget Max, the resident labrador retriever, snoozing the heat away. Breakfast was hearty, with numerous options, and the restaurant upstairs also offers a broad range of meals to choose from. Located in Wellawatte, the hotel is about a 10-minute drive from the centre. And despite the traffic and noise of the city, Sayura House always felt like a tranquil space, made all the calmer by the lush garden rising from the hotel's courtyard. Just wonderful. I will definitely be back next time I'm in Colombo.
