Umaya Holiday Home, hotel in Habawewa

2.1 miles from Kumbichchan Kulama Tank in the center of Anuradhapura, Umaya Holiday Home provides accommodations with access to a garden.

We stayed for one night. Drove here from Eluwankuluma by tuk tuk, arrived around 5pm. We parked right next to the building about 5 meters from our room door. We were greeted by the amazing staff with some juice. The location is perfect, right off the main road into Anuradhapura. There is a great Indian restaurant nearby (3min tuk tuk) where had amazing dinner and also got some food from the next door bakery for the road the next day. We planned to go to Anuradhapura early (6am). The staff offered to arrange bikes for us as well as keep our backpacks. (we asked at 9pm the night before and they helped us right away, amazing!!) When we got up the staff offered us coffee (knock on door 6am sharp) The bikes were there, perfect. it’s a couple minutes bike ride to the nearest sights. When we got back staff was there again with refreshments and we even got to use our bathroom even though we were past checkout. All in all amazing experience and value for money!!

We had a very enjoyable stay here. Room had everything we needed and was very clean. Dinner was good, there aren't really any restaurants in a 10-15km radius so this was a good solution for us. Arranged the safari for us as well.

The small place, only 4 rooms, is run by a local charming couple who do their utmost to please their guests. It’s ideally situated at the entrance to Wilpattu NP and at the lake. They will organize everything for you even though their english is very limited. But that is was google translate is for 😁

The host Leel is super friendly and helpful. He arranged the safari for us with a very good and experienced driver Tharindu. Excellent food (especially the Sri Lankan dishes), abundant portions (we couldn’t finish everything). On the morning of check-out he packed the leftovers from breakfast (including a delicious chickpea dish) for us for lunch. The room has everything you need. Everything is new and clean. Location is right next to the park. Thank you Leel and Tharindu!

This is a very private, hidden-away location in walking distance to the National Park. In fact, you can't get closer by staying anywhere else--and this means you save time by getting to sleep in during the morning. The host and owner, Leel, doesn't speak much English, but uses Google Translate to always help. The rooms have the best A/C, and with only a few bedrooms on the property, it's very private and great for bird-watching. Simple, efficient, and relaxing.
