The location is a short walk to a peaceful pebble and sand beach and a 10-minute walk to the main highway, where you can easily flag down a taxi, marshrutka or car heading either direction. We were able to quickly get a ride to Bokonbayevo, Aksai and Balykchy. (If you want to visit Aksai Canyons, get off in Aksai village and ask about hiring a taxi from any corner store; it’s too far and too hot to walk to the canyon and beach, but you can easily hire a ride from the village. If you want to visit the abandoned Soviet Pioneer Camp in Tong, it’s too far to walk from Mir Nur but very close by taxi or car; you’ll see the camp gates to your left if you drive the road toward the Bel Tam yurt camp.)
Our host and her family were very kind and welcoming; we felt very at peace and at home. The breakfasts were fresh and delicious. Give the host advance notice if you’d like to pay extra for dinner - you’ll be treated to a hearty homemade meal! There is no common area, so you will be served meals in your room.
