Steve (the owner) was exceptionally friendly. Steve accommodated me with both a dinner and breakfast even though I didnt choose the meal option when orginally booking. I still had to pay for the meals, but they were well worth it. The meals were homemade Japanese style meals. I believe he mentioned he could accommodate western pallets. There's also a kitchen provided if you would prefer to cook your own meal. The location is amazing for scenery, if you love nature and Steve is knowledgeable about his property and is able to give you some history about it.
The room I was in was a japanese style room with a kotatsu in one section and the sleeping section had a japanese futon mattress. It was early spring when I stayed and it was cold for me outside (iirc it 5°C/41°F), but under the plethora of blankets and comforters that were provided I stayed comfortable. Taking a dip in the onsen really helped me get comfortable before dinner and helped me get a restful sleep.
Akiu-Canada innkeeper is friendly, very helpful and kind. The scenery is amazing for nature lovers and there's even more nature to explore relatively close by, if you have the means of transportation. The food was delicious. The on-site onsen is relaxing. And the sleeping arrangements are great.
There's more pictures I wanted to share, but I can only submit one per prompt.

We absolutely loved our stay at Traveler’s Wharf Shichgahama.
Taka is a wonderful host - attentive, accommodating and we really enjoyed getting to know him a little bit.
He took excellent care of us, anticipating our needs and showing great hospitality. He picked us up from the train station, and advised us on activities in the area.
I would highly recommend you stay here if you are looking for a quiet, low key place close to the beach.
Warm and welcoming guest houses are ideal for travelers who prefer laid-back accommodations with a personal touch. Usually family run, these hosts will provide local recommendations and even optional meals. Guest houses sometimes feature a cozy living room or a garden – and are still cheaper than most regular hotels.
Great location near train station but with quiet surroundings ( I don’t mind the sound of trains passing at all)
A nice view at Floor 11
Small room but clean tidy and comfortable
Great location, within walking distance from Sendai Station and city center.
Room big, beds comfortable, toiletries aplenty and check-in area you can top these up too. Great amenities.
Cheap capsule hotel very close to the main streets. From the train station it is about 20 minutes walk. The hotel was very clean, showers were quite big and clean. Lockers are big enough to host a trolley.
Staff were 10/10. Great coffee. Good kitchen. Nice size fridge freezer. Comfortable beds. Privacy curtains. Dorm is OK size, and there's a toilet within the dormitory. The guesthouse is located in front of the train tracks so if you are a light sleeper I suggest using ear plugs. Otherwise a quiet area. It is far from the station and city centre and anyone who books this guesthouse should know that already. Walking distance to two big supermarkets.
Amazing old fashioned hotel! Everything from the entrance, elevators and rooms was very quaint. We felt very grand while staying there. Great location too.
The staff clearly explained the property clearly and quickly. Sometimes hostel owners do this too slow. AC sufficiently kept the room cool even with a full room of guys. In room mini-safe storage was a nice perk and was perfectly sized for my Nintendo Switch case (but definitely nothing much larger than that). Roommates were quiet. Hostel cat was super cute and nice (watch the claws if he gets really comfy)
