I loved absolutely everything about this place. It's in a beautiful, quiet and picturesque location on Sado. My room had it's own little balcony and the view of the village below and the surrounding coastline was really spectacular. The room itself was spotlessly clean with comfortable futons. The breakfasts and dinners served at Nanauraso were just amazing. The attention to detail was impressive. The ( shared) bath downstairs had a lovely view of the ocean. Best was of course the owner, who is the sweetest and most delightful person. She was so friendly but also allowed me to enjoy the peace and serenity of the place. I can't wait to return one day.

I don’t often stay in guesthouses, but after spending two nights at Iro, I can say that it is probably best suited for backpackers with low expectations. It is close to the ferry port, basic and affordable. And the owner speaks English. But there is no Wi-Fi, nor towels, nor microwave. The walls are thin, the floors squeaky, and the old clock downstairs strikes loudly every 30 minutes. So, depending on your sleeping habits and other guests, you may not be able to get a good rest. Also, it is a notably old house, and cleanliness in some areas leaves a lot to be desired.

Quiet, clean, in the area I wanted to be in. Small village
Close to a store.
Near nice Izakaya's- ask around, there is a dining guide available. Some of the Izakayas are not obvious to find.
Fabulous historic places walking distance or short bus ride. Walk up the large hill to the jail and surrounding areas. Eat at the Soba/tea house. Explore everywhere.
I also took a longer bus ride to the historic village and the tub boats. Long ride over an hour but the scenery is fabulous. Opposite the boats across the little bay is a cave (not advertised)
that passes through to where earthquakes have raised the seabed. Amazing.
Sado busses are infrequent but very accurate
The main bus stop is 300 ft away
Google doesn't show it but there is a coin laundry a few hundred yards down the main street.
Don't expect English but the locals are very helpful and try their best. Google translate is your friend, especially the camera option.

Very cool looking hostel with relaxing vibe and great shared areas and facilities. Loved the beer flights from the bar and staff were friendly. A great location too being close to the beach. Bus stop is on the road outside.
This place was wonderful. I really loved the comfy beds, the music selection and location was incredible. It is just 20 minutes from Sado Gold Mine and Sado popular bays. The host is very kind and he will help you to arrange anything you could need so do not hesitate to ask him about your stay in Sado.
the newly renovated environment makes this “hostel”-like guest house unique and modern. it is two blocks away from the bay. the bus stops are a few minutes away.
it was a Real delight to stay in rosencat. First of all, Hiroko (the Host) helped us in all our projets, and also give us a lot of advices. She lend us some of her own tools and was very preoccupied by our well being.
thanks a lot for this moment of quietness and piece.
