it was ok for one night. it'd been fine for a couple more nights too. it's self check in and there are instructions on how to open the door but I felt that maybe an initial explanation was needed like where the remote for the ac, the password for the wifi, etc. The host came later though and left quickly.
it was generally clean.

Great guesthouse with an amazing staff that is very helpful. There are no major subway lines near the guesthouse so you have to rely on buses which (during our stay) where a little complicated to manage as we travelled during the Gion festival and a lot of roads were closed. Nevertheless, we had a great time ! The Japanese breakfast is a great option to pick as it was very good !

We had a wonderful time staying here in this beautiful home. Emiko and her family are warm, kind and hospitable. The accommodation exceeded our expectations, it was spacious enough for two people with a lot of luggage and the beds and pillows were incredibly comfortable. We slept so well! Emiko went above and beyond to make our stay smooth and easy. She even took us to the station on our way out, having packed all our luggage in her car! Truly a kind family and a lovely stay. Thank you!

Warm and welcoming guest houses are ideal for travellers who prefer unfussy accommodation with a personal touch. They are usually family-run, and your host will provide local recommendations and optional meals. Often cheaper than regular hotels, guest houses can also feature a cosy living room and a garden.
One of the best places we have stayed in Japan. This place was mostly out of reach from the hustle and bustle of Kyoto, yet close enough to many other overlooked attractions. The space was very well taken care of, and our hosts had top-notch hospitality. Special thanks to Sachiko-San who took the extra effort to speak with us in English and made us feel at home. Next time we might want to stay here longer to embrace the peace and tranquility of Otsu.
Grateful for this stay!

Lovely hosts. Unique and amazing design. Manga dolls, fish tanks, movie regalia it’s like being in a museum. The rooms are small but very innovative. Host cleaned and restocked everyday. Good base to explore Shiga.
The guesthouse is beautifully decorated and mostly self-built by the host couple. They offered a free welcome drink and we could play pool for free. The rooms are anime themed which also was pretty cool.
The host couple was very welcoming and helpful. They really went out of their way for us.
