Kyo-Anthu Inn was a joyous place where you feel as though you are part of a loving home in your stay. Emiko-San was very generous, helpful and exhibited fantastic hospitality towards myself. Mr Tadashi Odagaki and the two lovely ladies who welcomed us were really nice and super accommodating. I like that the room has a kitchen. We were able to cook simple meals and was able to cook for New Year’s Eve. It is a nice break from typical hotels. It is in a safe neighborhood. 😊

Really nice place with great facilities, great shared kitchen with free drip coffee, laundry, helpful staff and a restaurant downstairs. Bike hire although we didn’t use that. Not far to walk to the golden temple and a fantastic onsen (Funaoka). Good space in the room to move around, peaceful and quiet.

Guesthouse KYOTO COMPASS, hotel in Kyoto

Located in Kyoto, this traditional Japanese guest house features free Wi-Fi and a free public computer. Shichijo Onmae bus stop is 3 minutes’ walk away.

An amazing place to stay. I felt like I was staying with family, everyone is so friendly and kind. Mama also explained to me how to use the local sento (bathhouse). As I stayed over the New Year we also went to pray at a local shrine just after midnight. Breakfast included: tea/coffee/juice, toast, an egg, small salad, small plate of fruit and a little cup of yogurt. They also have two cats: Gii and Neru who generally keep to themselves but also are happy to receive pats cuddles. Staying here was one of the highlights of my trip, if I ever come back to Kyoto I will want to stay here!

Gionkoh, hotel in Kyoto

Gionkoh is situated in Kyoto, 800 metres from Kiyomizu-dera Temple and 1.1 km from Samurai Kembu Kyoto. There is a shared kitchen and courtyard at the property.

I loved the small kitchen that allowed me to make snacks and food for my children, and coffee for me. The room was very comfortable, and the location was excellent, just a short walk from some wonderful historic sites but was on a quiet street, meaning it wasn't too noisy.

Everything we needed in a quiet neighbourhood. Modern and well equipped apartment with comfortable beds. Non-touristy area. Charming back pathway well away from cars and noise but short walking distance to a local grocery store, cafe's and the train station. Really great central location for day trips around Kyoto. Lovely hosts. Great value.

The room was small but really nice, and nice experience. The showers/toilets were great (female only floor). It was cheap for the great location and some privacy (over a hostel).

Tani house is a guest house with a great and quite long history. Tani San is a charming lady, who keeps house in a very good condition. She kindly hosted us in her cozy place. And next morning provided us with delicious and generous breakfast. We are grateful for that expiration. Wish Tani San be well, healthy and fool of energy for continuing her work.

It is a family run b&b with taking good care by the hosts who have put years of energy and passion into making this place so cozy, beautiful and feel at home. Breakfast comes with home-made everything which is delicate, delicious and satisfying. Great location with quiet and chill neighbourhood which is only 5mins walk from the station and close to city centre. So grateful we have chosen this place to stay.
