Oh my god, where to start? This place is FANTASTIC! We arrived in off season at what I think is a ski lodge, but Karuizawa is a fantastic place to visit in summer. The building is so cute and the rooms are lovely, the setting is fantastic, and the owner, Suzuki (I hope I got your name right!) is lovely. She offered to take us up and down from the nearby station if we needed (although it's also possible to walk), and went to great pains to make our stay as comfortable as it could be. They even have a cute cat!

We had such a lovely time at Corner Shop. We stayed in the tatami mat room which was perfect for us, the rooms are so spacious, beautifully laid out and we had a view out onto the mountain. The toilet and shower room were also very clean and spacious. There is also a small kitchen with sink, kettle, fridge and crockery that we could use. The guest house is above a cafe/shop/bar with a really nice atmosphere and the staff were so friendly, kind and helpful throughout our stay. Overall, this was the best place we have stayed in Japan and we will definitely be recommending it to friends!
Miyota is a great location in a stunning landscape. It is easily accessible by train from Tokyo and there are plenty of places to eat within walking distance of Corner Shop.

Karuizawa is an amazing location. Transport to and from the train stations was easy with a taxi, once we had installed the app. We were on business in the area, but we also had the chance to walk a little, great surroundings.
All in all, the accommodation is not cheap, but it can host quite a large group, making it worth the price.

Homely cozy setting in a very quiet wooded area at Naka-Karuizawa. I booked a bed in a 4 bed dorm but ended up having the whole room to myself. Host is friendly.

A simple but charming Japanese guest house, very clean, everything you need for convenience, lovely addition of musical atmosphere, games and books, good breakfast (half western), had everything we needed as a family.

The host is very friendly and fluent in English. Feel grateful for his hardworking to keep the place chill, comfy and clean. I like the dining and resting area very much. The lighting, furnitures, decorations, music and books are perfect. You can enjoy a quiet time in the nature. The temperature and ventilation in the resting area is amazing in the hot summer in Aug. It felt like AC but it was actually breeze from the windows.
My stay here was amazing. The dorm and bathroom are clean, there is a nice and spacious common room to eat and talk with other travellers, and the hostel is quiet.
The owners are so friendly! If you need any help, or have any question they will be happy to help you. Plus, they can speak good English!
Also, they serve very good breakfast, I totally recommend the cinnamons rolls with raisin, they are delicious!

You can find everything you need and the japanese breakfast which is made by Yusukes wife is so delicious!
