Very kind and well-traveled owner, Tomo-san, who speaks great English. A great cook as well. Breakfast was most delicious! His family are also wonderful, their home is just lovely. Great place.
Housed in a historic building, the recently renovated Johns House じょんのやど provides accommodations with a garden and free Wifi. The air-conditioned accommodations are 4 miles from Himeji Castle.

Very good location between Himeji station and castle. (It is on the shopping street, so pay attention. Missed it the first time, made circle and got it right the second time). Very comfortable and clean. After a long day the face mask was a great bonus😊
Warm and welcoming guest houses are ideal for travelers who prefer laid-back accommodations with a personal touch. Usually family run, these hosts will provide local recommendations and even optional meals. Guest houses sometimes feature a cozy living room or a garden – and are still cheaper than most regular hotels.
Quiet place, no one would bother you. Good privacy.
The two male staff rotated at the reception were very polite and knew a little English. There is a coin launderette with rates cheaper than nearby hotels.
This is truly a home away from home. Tomo-san and his family are incredibly warm and welcoming. The guesthouse is tucked away in a quiet area, but is a short stroll to the awe-inspiring Himeji Castle, and other attractions. There are also some hidden gem local restaurants to be found nearby. I would stay here again without hesitation such was my experience!
Great location if your main purpose is to visit the Himeji Castle, as it’s located 5min walking. The hostel is inside a shopping street market, very convenient to eat out or buy things.
The main train and bus station are also close, just 10-15min walking.
The bed was comfortable and private, the common areas were ok.
Nice budget option for a night in Himeji. Lovely and clean little guest house with very friendly hosts. We booked out the 6 bed (3 bunks) room for my wife and 2 young boys and was perfect. If staying longer probably want something a bit bigger. Close to a local station one stop from Shinkansen station so very easy transfer coming in from Hiroshima. Short 15 minute walk to the castle which was perfect.
Sort of hostel vibe, with young travellers hanging around in the common area. But all nice and reasonably quiet. Room upstairs, bathrooms downstairs...
Host is very nice and recommended good places for breakfast nearby.
Perfect for one night and very good value for money.
Great location right next to station and near the castle. Room was comfy. As it’s like a hostel though we had a room to ourselves with 4 bunk beds so there was no lock on the door. The walls are also very thin and you can hear other people having conversations and we were woken up in the night by it.
Travelling through Japan for 3 weeks we will definitely always remember our stay at Shironoshita Guesthouse. Unfortunately we were only staying in Himeji for one night. Tomo-san is a great host, and made sure that we felt at home. If you have questions don't hesitate to ask him. Everything in the guesthouse is very well thought through. If you're looking for a good place to stay in Himeji, this is it.
An adorable little guesthouse run by a charming Japanese man and his family. They were incredibly helpful and hospitable, and had a host of suggestions for us to make the most of our brief stay, including sharing his supplies so we could enjoy the local bath house. Very attentive hosts! Himeji isn't a bustling metropolis so we enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere of the local neighbourhood. Excellent location, a short walk to the main sights and Himeji station. Thank you again Tomo-san!
