Taka's house is absolutely beautiful, its very traditional with Tatami mats and a lovely little garden. You have full use of the kitchen and the sitting area too. As we were a family of 4, we had two beautiful rooms upstairs. The village is very quiet and tranquil, we enjoyed going for a little walk through the old style traditional streets.

The place does not have anything inside the room. The shared kitchen are very messy and no electric devices like microwave are working....

The innkeeper Hajime seems nice, the property is beautiful, and the area is too. The rooms are cheap and the area is super quiet and vibes traditional Japan.

Perfect location to visit the countryside of Japan. This is the real Japan with Koi carpers swimming in river-like gutters and friendly helpfull villagers. On top of this, Kyoto is only half an hour away by train.
We came for a nice, relaxing place to stay but got a family who was so warm and welcoming. Mizu, the hostess of Smile guesthouse is a very kind and helpful person who speaks good English. She helped and guided us to make our stay even better. The guest house is a traditional Japanese house. Beautiful and full of details.
And next to that you can eat fresh strawberries at the Tanaberry farm, which is a 8 minutes walking distance.
We can recommend everyone to stay here. As we immediately extended our stay the day we arrived and are planning to definitely stay again the next time we travel to Japan.
Warm and welcoming guest houses are ideal for travellers who prefer unfussy accommodation with a personal touch. They are usually family-run, and your host will provide local recommendations and optional meals. Often cheaper than regular hotels, guest houses can also feature a cosy living room and a garden.
The hotel is an outstanding experience as a place to stay. Excellent facilities - including the open-air bath in our room, superb food, and wonderfully polite and helpful staff. I also enjoyed the welcome cake and glass of wine on the 10th floor when we arrived. You will pay for the experience as the hotel is not cheap, but it is well worth it for the experience.
Arrived way too early for the check-in in the rain and got my room prepared in 10-15 minutes. The host and his wife and all the staff were super nice and helpful.
Clean and comfortable bed.
The host was nice, I arrived late after standard check-in time but he waited for me.
He also lent me his bicycle to sightsee the whole day around.
The place is very conveniently located right next to the castle and the shopping street. The kitchen is well equipped (there were even paper towels and Saran wrap, which most hosts forget about), and there is nice big western-style dining table. The tatami rooms have bed mattresses, so they are softer than normal futons.
The bathroom was clean and modern, and has a nice washing machine (with a second one and a drier outside!).
The Kiyotaki Ryokan is a beautiful traditional house, the atmosphere is quiet and perfect to relax. The owners are very kind and helpful. The breakfast is delicious!
Breakfast - decent selection
Room - very spacious
Self regulated lockers for luggage and bags.
Express check out- just drop card and go!
Location - just across the street from hikone station yet quiet
The host was very friendly, provided lots of hot water for the room and gave me a lift to the station on the last day. The room was sufficient and I loved the hot stone bath. The location is a short walk to Hikone Castle in a quiet street, there are plenty of shops, restaurants, supermarket and a convenient store near by.
I had a wonderful stay. The house was larger than expected, and had several rooms. The neighborhood is cozy and quiet, and I enjoyed walking around. The host was very friendly and accomodating. I'll 100% stay again if I'm in the area.
