Okayama Hostel Igusa, hotel in Hayashima

Nestled in the beautiful countryside, Okayama Hostel Igusa is a traditional 50-year old Japanese-style home that has been renovated into a guest house.

Very close to the station. Quiet nice and lovely stay. Allowed me to use the common room up until 12 pm. That was so lovely. If I ever visit Okayama again, I will choose this stay again.

Guest House Toranjyo-lit, hotel in Hayashima

Guest House Toranjyo-lit is set in Tamano, 60-minutes from Takamatsu via ferry and 60-minutes from Okayama via train or bus. Guests can enjoy the on-site cafe.

We had a great stay at toranjyo lit, a traditional ryokan house. It is simple but has everything you need and it’s very charming. The staff was also very friendly and helpful, giving us tips how to structure our nioshima/teshima trip and picking us up from the bus stop.

AddressHokancho, hotel in Hayashima

Just a 4-minute walk from Houkancho Shopping Street and half a mile from Kuni Shrine, AddressHokancho features accommodations in Okayama with a shared lounge.

Very spacious, good if you want more space than the usual crampy Japanese hotel. Located a bit far from the station, but it’s just by the end of the shopping street so it’s nice for walking around.

If you love a lovely atmosphere reminiscent of Studio Ghibli films, Hayashima is your city, and this traditional guesthouse feels like a fairy tale. It's an absolutely amazing place. You can relax in the main room, enjoying a drink or a meal while taking in the view of a traditional Japanese garden filled with birds and dragonflies. The garden and quiet environment are wonderful. The town is small and cozy, making it a perfect base, just a few stops away from Okayama. The guesthouse owner is incredibly kind and helpful.

The garden was really cute. It was a typical japanese house. Amazing ! We went to a good japanese restaurant that the staff recommended us. For the location, it was close to a station but it was not in the city center (not in Okayama). It depends what you’re looking for.
