From the very first moment, the staff was super hepful and informative. Where to begin?? The best kept secret in the Japanese Alps. Off the beaten track, a cosy rustic guesthouse run by the nicest couple. They prepare the most delicious food all locally grown in their farm, including home made fresh juices. Breakfast left us speechless. The rooms and dining area are charming, decorated to the finest detail, blending with the amazing scenery of the mountains and the beautiful small village of Urugi. You will not want to leave this place.

This was an exceptional experience. While Magomejuku can be overrun by tourists, the bad weather forecast caused many cancellations, making our stay very quiet and intimate. The weather turned out to be very favorable, and we felt very privileged to be at Motomiya alone. The dinner meal was large and driverse and was made vegetarian for us by advance request. Absolutely a place to experience again!

It’s an entire house and very big! Full of antiques and curios, and very near the station. The bakery next door opens at 8am for the best breakfast, don’t miss it.
The supermarket opens at 10am till 6pm and there aren’t many restaurants around :-).
Gold base to explore the Nasenko trail as you can do day trips, I wish we had done that instead of moving everyday, you can take the train to the stations where the tracks start.

Extremely friendly owner, helped me with directions for planning my day there. I ended up going to see the peach blossoms, hiking up a beautiful hill and finishing my day off at an onsen. So much interactivity from the owner, who would message me through the day when I got lost. Great location, and free parking available (tell them in advance). Host let me use the facilities which was a great help. Very clean and a nice house.

Truly the best guest house experience I’ve every had. You can tell the owner really cares about the guests. You have everything you need from the shower to a comfy bed. I felt at home right away here. She even helped me figure out what I was going to do for my second day in the area! Truly amazing.

Close to quite some onsens, where this time of year beautiful peach flowers are blooming. A. Nice local shrine and an amazing guesthouse owner. I had a lot of fun here.
