good kitchen, great location, could see waterfall from window
This guest house is 8 km from Skogar and 10 minutes’ drive from the Seljalandsfoss Waterfall. It offers tastefully decorated rooms with Eyjafjöll Mountain views.
Warm and welcoming guest houses are ideal for travellers who prefer unfussy accommodation with a personal touch. They are usually family-run, and your host will provide local recommendations and optional meals. Often cheaper than regular hotels, guest houses can also feature a cosy living room and a garden.
The place on the outside looks like an old barn but when you go inside, you will be greeted with a super cute, new, modern and clean guesthouse. Would highly recommend this accommodation
We really enjoyed staying at this property. It was in a lovely quiet location with easy parking. The beds were extremely comfortable and the bathrooms were clean with great shower pressure. The kitchen was clean and spacious with a large dining table.
We had a quad room (we were 2 adults and two adult children), and the room was very spacious with great views across the plain to the sea. The kitchen/living room has everything you need - oven, kettle, microwave, dishwasher, etc. The location is secluded and quiet but perfect for glacier/waterfall tours.
South Iceland Guesthouse is located just off the main road Route 1 near Skogafoss and Seljalandsfoss. The restaurant across the street had a great selection for lunches and dinners. Parking was free and easy to find.
A typical guesthouse with small bedrooms and shared bathrooms (though the kitchen is spacious). Despite being located near a main road (route 1), it's perfectly quiet. There are no hiking areas in the vicinity, but it's a good place to stay if you plan to visit nearby attractions (Seljavallalaug pool, Skógafoss, Sólheimajökull glacier, to name a few).
We loved Guesthouse #1! It was compact but had everything we needed. The beds were very comfortable and the entire apartment was nice and tidy. It was a perfect base for our day trips around South Iceland. Warmly recommended.
The best guesthouse ever !! I felled into a frozen stream and lost my car key, I arrived at the hostel without my car and was frozen, they welcomed me with open arms straight to the shower to warm up and dry off, the owner of the place made sure we got a spare car key from Reykjavík so that the next morning we continued to travel with our car and warm in our hearts, the restaurant was very tasty and the place was very friendly Homey and good. Thank you Hrund for everything ❤️
