Warm and welcoming guest houses are ideal for travellers who prefer unfussy accommodation with a personal touch. They are usually family-run, and your host will provide local recommendations and optional meals. Often cheaper than regular hotels, guest houses can also feature a cosy living room and a garden.
The guesthouse exceeded our expectations! Although the drive there was a bit rough due to unpaved roads, it was still very easy to reach during May. The location is amazing, away from main roads, on top of a hill with views as far as you can see surrounded by nothing but quietness. The room was very nice, had everything we needed for our stay and the big windows overlooking nature were so enjoyable!
We stayed in the apartment which is utterly gorgeous, wish we'd stayed for two nights instead of one to really make the most of kitchen/living space. The guesthouse has a beautiful open view, tasty breakfast and evening meal (with veggie options) & when I left my bag behind, they organised for someone to meet us in Selfoss to ensure that I could get it back before flying home. Very kind hosts! Thank you
This was a stunning well-furnished and incredibly spacious property that very much felt like home! We were welcomed by the charming host who showed us our way around since we got a little lost trying to get to our cabin. The cabin had great facilities from WiFi, laundry machine, sauna room and an outdoor hot tub! We definitely enjoyed our stay there and would highly recommend!
A memorable evening spent with other guests and the hosts. Dinner was delicious with great variety of choices. The Guesthouse is situated in a very quiet area almost secluded but the Icelandic atmosphere created by the hosts was unique and special.
Can't wait to come back again!
The location is amazing - it’s accessible by a gravel road but feels very secluded with incredible views. You feel like you’re in the middle of nowhere and it’s very peaceful. The room we stayed in was lovely - very spacious and charming with attention to detail in the finishes and little touches throughout. The hosts and staff were friendly, attentive and helpful.
What a gem of a guesthouse, ideally situated just off the main road, with 360 countryside views. Rooms were comfortable and lacked nothing, although black out curtains might be a welcome addition for the perfect night’s sleep. The guest house is far from the nearest town so we booked dinner both nights and were not disappointed. Good wholesome home cooking taken at communal tables where we chatted with other guests about the day’s activities.
