Warm and welcoming guest houses are ideal for travellers who prefer unfussy accommodation with a personal touch. They are usually family-run, and your host will provide local recommendations and optional meals. Often cheaper than regular hotels, guest houses can also feature a cosy living room and a garden.
Good Irish hospitality. Value for money. I especially enjoyed the unusual background gentle operatic music. The host was able to find a charger for my phone (left mine at home) from a collection left behind by other guests.
The "river" isn't an attractive feature, but the guesthouse is immediately handy to the town's shops and services. I parked my car easily in the street. Charlestown is at a crossroads of many routes, so the guesthouse is convenient for touring that part of Ireland.
Everything......room was very clean and really comfortable. Plenty of hot water and towels. Very quiet we had a great night's sleep.
Anthony was an exceptional host who was at the door the minute we arrived as it was lashing rain! He also cooked breakfast which was delicious with homemade scones. He also had prepared a wide range of fresh fruit, yogurt, cereal, juices to choose from. Lovely little village with very friendly locals. We will be back again.
Anthony was a great host. One of the best breakfasts we have had. Unfortunately his restaurant wasn't open to try as it was midweek but he recommended a few places and we opted for the Chinese just around the corner.
We had a large bedroom and ensuite. Everything was spotless. Gave us a key to the front door so we could come and go as we pleased.
Great location and quirky old building which we loved. One of the best breakfasts I've had at a time which suited us. Loved our stay, slept well, fabulous food and excellent host.
