Warm and welcoming guest houses are ideal for travellers who prefer unfussy accommodation with a personal touch. They are usually family-run, and your host will provide local recommendations and optional meals. Often cheaper than regular hotels, guest houses can also feature a cosy living room and a garden.
Perfect for us. Marianna is the perfect host. Friendly, efficient and above all, a baker of cakes. We loved the location. Quiet, great views, plenty of outside chairs and tables from which to read and take in the views. Also a nice little walk down to the beach / taverna area. We loved the coastal walks and two variations of the Gorge of the Dead just adjacent. Supermarket up the hill in Zakros.
The house aesthetics is 👏. Nice view, very well equipped, really nice host that had raki, fresh fruit & vegetables available on the fridge for us. Easy check in and communication with the host. The private wc is outside of the room but no issue if you don't wake up at night :)
A charming and spacious apt with sea view, clearly a thought was given to every little detail. The balcony was great for relaxing in full view of the sea and a thanks to the unfailing breeze it was very nice even on hot summer days. Very quiet, every apt has its own space and the whole place is well mai tained and beautiful. A great place for relaxation and the beach was not crowded at all. Being on the ver eastern end of Crete it takes time to get there, but to me it was well worth the trip
Great location for a peaceful time, nearby the beach and the gorge of the death. Katherine was a great host and brought us lovely homemade cake and tea. I couldn’t recommend this place enough!
Very nice host who picked us up at the lokal Mini market. Appartement was very clean with fresh fruits on the table. Our host could help us with a medical problem but therefore we were not able to try the recommended Restaurant.
it‘s a gem, to say the least. wonderful welcoming hosts katarina and maria; a spectacular garden setting with lots of personality; a room with everything you could wish/need; little treats when coming home from a hike; a small terrace with seaview. really nothing we could have asked for more. we travel a lot, have seen/stayed in many hotels around the world, from luxury ***** to little guest houses. believe me/us, yiannis retreat was an unique experience.
charming and beautiful room, clean, spacious, with great bed and wonderful extras for breakfast, even including a bottle of wine. Spectacular views over the bay, very friendly host and good shower in spacious bathroom. Mosquito nets on the windows and very well stocked kitchinet. Like being a guest in a local's home. Quite with the most amazing stars at night (no light pollution) and hummock amongst the trees to have your feet up in.
