Duchy House Bed and Breakfast, hotel in Moretonhampstead

Located in the heart of Dartmoor National Park, Duchy House Bed and Breakfast is nestled in the village of Princetown.

Nice cosy and clean room (and bathroom) - everything was spick and span. Good (vegan) breakfast options, though would've been nice if there were more savoury choices (there was only one, which I didn't have). Excellent location as Princetown is in the centre of the moors, providing easy access all around. Richard and Caroline were friendly and courteous, making the entire stay pleasant.

The Ramblers' Rest - Princetown, hotel in Moretonhampstead

23 miles from Newton Abbot Racecourse in Princetown, The Ramblers' Rest - Princetown provides accommodations with access to spa facilities.

Great location close to the crossroads in the center of Dartmoor. 5 minute drive from Wistman's Wood, and very close to many other fantastic locations as well. (Note that the attached photo was taken with a zoom lens from the edge of the wood, please do not walk into the wood!) There are many excellent framed photographs hanging all over the hotel from local landscape photographer Greg Braund. The drying room was fantastic and really useful since it was a very wet weekend! Owner Nikki was nice and very hospitable. The hot tub is great, and really huge! Comfy beds.

Friendly reception by the proprietor. A couple operates the place. Beautiful setting. It is an old mill with stone walls. Quiet rooms. Welcoming lounge. English breakfast cooked with care. Helpful hosts. Good functional bathroom (mixed hot-and-cold in sink, notable for Britain's old inns).

Great location, and the apartment is both large and lovely. Clean and tidy. There are two rooms, one with a double bed, and one with two single beds. Pots and pans are available, and the host is lovely.

Very warm welcome on arrival - our room was perfect with a lovely view. We had a two night stay and slept well in a very comfortable bed and quiet location. The guest house is decorated and furnished to a high standard and is a credit to the owners. We had a great choice of breakfast - good quality and a very nice breakfast room/ seating area. Fully deserving of the high praise in reviews - we enjoyed our stay and highly recommend.

The guest house is very stylish and comfortable, with a lovely garden. Beds, duvets and pillows super comfy, lovely bathroom. There was a fridge in the room which contained fresh milk for teas/coffees, so much better than those little fiddly containers of UHT. Breakfast was excellent, with fresh fruit salad and fresh croisants and pain au chocolat, as well as full English if required. Delighted to meet two friendly collies who live there!

We felt welcomed by the lovely host Jackie from the moment we arrived. We wouldn’t ordinarily book a more intimate guesthouse but booked Cookshayes due to attending a wedding at Bovey Castle, and we are so glad we did! Honestly can’t fault anything… friendly warm welcome, great location, ample free parking, beautiful property & room with great view, fabulous breakfast, and an extremely peaceful setting. Without a doubt would recommend this place to anyone visiting the area :)
