The room was ideal and cleanliness is important to me. I was able to relax and rest after the long drive from Kent. After a 2 hour rest I was able to cycle the Granite Way and overlook the viaduct to the valley below. This was an option of an adventure off the beaten track and some exercise after a long driving experience. I was on my way to Cornwall and this seemed like a natural stop and I only had about an hours drive after Okehampton.
I am not a big breakfast person and just had a bowl of porridge however, the owners were able to supply me with a bacon sandwich for my journey. Tea and coffee supplied and I managed to watch a Euros match for a short time. Excellent one night stop.

First room wifi didn’t work. Owner seemed first annoyed with me but I asked for another room, he gave us a much better, more spacious room. Staff was very nice. Dinner was good.

Warm and welcoming guest houses are ideal for travellers who prefer unfussy accommodation with a personal touch. They are usually family-run, and your host will provide local recommendations and optional meals. Often cheaper than regular hotels, guest houses can also feature a cosy living room and a garden.
Perfect for a quiet getaway, a little off the beaten track but beautifully situated amongst rolling countryside with stunning views. The traditional farmhouse has everything you need, room is well appointed and very comfortable and your host is charming and helpful. You'll also receive a warm welcome from Larry 😀
The host was lovely, really friendly. Lovely warm house with a fantastic atmosphere and so quiet. The breakfast was very nice with a choice of cooked or cereals/toast. Fresh fruit juice.
Great location in a pretty village, surrounded by walks for all abilities. Perfect base for exploring the area, seaside, moorlands, woods and forests, granite way. Townend Barn is a home from home with lovely hosts just on the doorstep for help and advice. Perfect stay in Lydford.
Angelina was a great host and made us feel very at home, the furniture was really in keeping of a Devon longhouse that was built in the 1700's. The breakfast was all local produce and was very tasty and she had also taken into account that I am gluten free so thank you very much. We would definitely stay again but would come prepared with some warmer jumpers.
Great location and outstanding hosts! Very close to a number of walking routes which was the main reason we visited Dartmoor.
Kim and Geoff were great hosts and were always on hand to answer any questions we had. I would highly recommend staying here if you are planning on visiting the area.
Great value for money. Large room and large bathroom. Comfy bed. Angela was a great host who made us feel very much at home. Very quiet. Wonderful views. Good breakfast.
Absolutely lovely. Total peace and quiet, Great room and bathroom, exceptional breakfast . Angela is a charming and attentive host. Dartmoor and surrounding places of interest easily accessed.. We will definitely be back.
