Everything about this hotel was spot on! The staff were friendly and chatty, we was made to feel at home, the room we had was probably the most comfortable hotel room we have ever been in, it was clean, cosy and a lovely comfortable size, breakfast was a range of choices, cereals, fruits, full english, the range of jams for our toast was amazing, the cost of the room and breakfast was very much worth every penny we paid, this hotel needs an upgrade from 4 stars to 5 stars, we was quite sad to have to leave, but we will definitely be booking to come back here again.

Very peaceful quiet location,when we opened the door there was a lovely fragrance and it was very clean,the room was small but comfortable for two people but not for tall or big persons,the location is good as the shops are 5 minutes drive and Clacton-on-Sea is about 10 minutes,meet the lovely host Julie and her three lovely dogs, dogs are not allowed but she said if you have a small dog she may make an exception you just need to let her know first when you book.

Cosiness, comfy chairs, chocolate, biscuits and milk on arrival. Hospitality very good. Having a small fridge was such a bonus. Comfortable bed. Privacy. Would definitely come again. We loved it's being quaint and quiet and peaceful. If your staying for 1 or 2 nights it's so so much nicer than a hotel chain.
Beautiful, luxurious property, quiet but really well situated for activities, shops and restaurants. The host, John, was absolutely amazing and made us feel right at home immediately. He was very flexible and accommodating and made everything feel so easy. We had an amazing time and have every intention of returning in the not too distant future! Breakfast was simple but refreshingly so!
Breakfast was lovely and the hosts were really friendly, warm and welcoming. The place was easy to find. I would recommend Barnfields retreat as it is in a great location, close to both Frinton and Clacton.
Great location for us, as we were able to walk to the festival we were going to on the Saturday. Only a short drive to Clacton and surrounding areas. Room was spacious with a lovely balcony. Hosts were very helpful and friendly. Would definitely stay again.
