We booked this property very last minute, (due to booking with another property and choosing a room with a bath, on arrival, they couldn’t offer us that and we had a refund). We arrived within 5-10 mins of booking and we were met with a friendly wave from someone in a car, in passing. On arrival we were absolutely stunned by the beauty of this property, including a gigantic Christmas tree in the middle of the courtyard that was lit up superbly! We had been left a key with our name on and an envelope with some info too. Heading towards our room was such a good first impression and the room was absolutely beautiful! The bath had a jacuzzi too and I could have cried I was so happy! 🤣
It snowed heavily the night we stayed which made it so magical, due to this, breakfast was prepared, cooked and served by one lady and she did a tremendous job. A really lovely stay and we would definitely return!

Rebecca and Stephen were perfect hosts, very friendly and attentive. The house was absolutely beautiful, just perfect. And the breakfast was one of the best I've ever had when away. I can't wait to be back again.

The location is brilliant right in the middle of Hay with free parking, close to a nice pub that served good food. The breakfasts were tasty and freshly cooked with delicious coffee and enough to last you the day. Plenty of hot water and nice and cosy in the room especially as the weather was not kind during our stay. Diana and the staff were very friendly.

The property was excellent—clean, comfortable, and well-maintained. The staff were friendly and attentive, and the location was perfect for exploring the area.
Warm and welcoming guest houses are ideal for travellers who prefer unfussy accommodation with a personal touch. They are usually family-run, and your host will provide local recommendations and optional meals. Often cheaper than regular hotels, guest houses can also feature a cosy living room and a garden.
Phenomenal stay with very welcoming hosts, the carriage itself is very impressive and spacious. There is a massive amount of work gone into making it and it shows, every detail is well thought out and there is everything you need for a perfect getaway. The surrounding area and gardens are very quiet and peaceful, we enjoyed wandering around the garden looking at the various flowers, fruits and the bees! The glasshouse is a beautiful sight to behold and surprisingly large. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and hope to return again one day.
Great location for Hay on Wye, beds really comfy. Communication from hosts re arrival and location was helpful. Good shower, towels and robes provided. Hosts were friendly and welcoming, room had every thing you could need.
John and Clare are perfect hosts. We had such an amazing stay at Cwmbach Lodge. The location is wonderful and quiet with a fabulous garden with the most amazing views of the Black Mountains There is also a large pond which you can (and my husband did!) swim in!
The room is beautifully decorated and with everything you need. There is a lobby with coffee maker, tea bags and a fridge. A lovely breakfast is provided on a tray so you can have it in your room or on the patio.
Great location, right by the river Wye, nice terrace to use literally on the river bank, good parking on site. Quiet location but with several eating out options within minutes walk. Owner responded to questions quickly and was very helpful. Very clean room. Nice touch to have a fresh milk bottle in the mini fridge waiting for coffee and tea instead of the usual UHT pods elsewhere! And canoe centre next door which was a perfect day out.
Location excellent. Close to places we wanted to visit and indeed visited. Tina & Dave are very welcoming hosts and surely have a wonderful establishment. Breakfast room is very quaint and cute and the views are really something to behold.
Comfortable bed and bathroom + shower facilities in the room we stayed 100% super!!
Very friendly local, great hosts. Honest down to earth good value, comfortable, clean. Food excellent. Great location by the river wye - perfect nights accommodation for Hay festival visitors.
Huge, hot cooked breakfast, loved the individual stainless steel cafetiere that kept the coffee really hot! Great pub food in the evening. Great hosts, very friendly.
